I See Sam Books are a series of early reader books developed to teach children in kindergarten to read. The original series, written in 1972, as part of Southwest Regional Educational Laboratory's (SWRL) Beginning Reading Program (BRP), contained 52 books.
I have extended the number of resources.

Book 39: The Seed
New Words
hand, hill, seed, weed - Decodable
Plot Summary
Mit has a seed which he and Will want to plant.
First they weed. Then they plant the seed. Sun
shines on the seed and rain falls on it. The seed
grows into a little tree. Mit and Will try to guess
what kind of tree it will be. After many days, nuts
appear on the branches. Mit and Will are proud
of their tree and share the nuts with their friends.
Each new word throughout the program is repeated at
least five times in the book in which it first appears and
five more times in the next ten books.
The first book in the series starts with just 3 words: I, see, Sam. Every book or two adds a few words, until by book 52, the readers have read 95 different words. The SWRL Kindergarten Beginning Reading Program was first implemented in U.S. public schools in the early 1970's. Due to its tremendous success at achieving its goal of teaching young children to read, over the years the program has been copied, edited and/or revised by a number of individuals, institutions, and companies.
I love to revise grammar. I don't like needing to constantly refer between the answers and the questions to get the most out of each lesson. I decided the simplest thing was to simply combine the question paper and the marking schemes into a single document. The idea is simple - you ask a question - the children then show their answers and then you check the answers as a class against the official marking scheme answers.
This helps to keep revision fun and the lessons snappy.
Let me know what you think of them!
These worksheets are designed to be used time and again with different books.
These are designed to be used in guided reading sessions. Many of the worksheets are designed in such a way that a student can complete them independently. However, to get the maximum out of this book, I would highly recommend these worksheets are used to consolidate the learning taking place in the classroom.
Another use of this set of worksheets is additional homework sheets. I have used these sheets very effectively as a way of checking to see if students have read their book and do fully understand what they have read.
I hope you enjoy this book and that your students are inspired to take a more active, more motivated role in their own learning.

When I am revising the SPAG (KS2 English grammar, punctuation and spelling tests), I want to have all the questions and all the answers in one place. This means I can ask the class a question and then after they have shown me their responses on their mini-whiteboards, I can immediately show them the answers and the acceptable alternatives. As I could not find this anywhere, I thought it would be easier to simply make it myself. So here it is! This particular set of resources comes from the 2014 test. I have also done this for the 2015 test and the 2016 tests.
This resource could be used in school or it could be used at home. It could be used with a whole class or in pairs, one asks the question, the other answers the question and then they swap roles.

Alternatively, students could work in pairs - one student dictates to the other what to write down about what they see in the picture.
These pages could also be used to write different stories, using the pictures as a stimulus.
