I could not find any fun, free Year 1 Mental Maths tests. While I made a get set of PowerPoints yesrs ago, I have discovered, like everyone else, I simply don’t use PowerPoints anymore. I focus much more on YouTube and other video services. I thought I should get my resources up to date and so I have added a Year 1 Term 1 Mental Maths Test 1 for you to use.

Teachers are now using YouTube more than PowerPoint and so I am changing all the teaching resources to reflect this. This has the added bonus of being able to complete the PowerPoint version in the classroom and then directly sharing the lesson with the parents to repeat with their children at home. This lesson can then be repeated at home as additional homework. I have always used the Wigan Maths Tests to prepare the students for their final exams. However, I wanted to improve it, so that I could ask a question and discuss the answer directly on the whiteboard and so I rewrote the tests as PowerPoint presentations. The students could do it together in the classroom or take them home as additional revision.

The second type is the traditional ask all the questions first, swap papers and check each of the answers which is all great and has its own merits. I created this 1 Dice Maths Game so I can play endless classroom games with my students. This 1 Dice Math Game is 10 minutes long, so you have plenty of time to complete any fun classroom maths games. The 1 Dice Maths Game could also be used to generate numbers for counting spots, adding or multiplying different numbers. It could also be used to work out how often different numbers appear on a dice. I really hope you find my 1 Dice Maths Game useful.

4 Dice Math Game was designed for teachers who need to use 4 dice in the classroom for a number of different reasons. They might need to generate 4 digit numbers, the dice could be used to make 2 x 2-digit numbers for math class. I made a full 10 minutes of dice shaking so teachers could start anywhere in the video to get completely random shakes every time. This is also an excellent resource for students to use to work out the probability of different numbers coming up.

Fun Random Number Math Game - where I sound like a chipmunk. I generate 8 different numbers each day which my students use for adding, subtracting, multiplying and other exciting maths games. I sometimes just give them the first 5 numbers in the video and ask them to work out how they could make the number 100 using the 4 different number operations.

I wanted to create a fun multiplication quiz for my students. I wanted one I cpuld easily make each day for the students. I will be uploading a new movie each day. The idea is that you take these numbers and multiply them by the timetable of your choice! This fun multiplication quiz lets you test all the class at the same time, as each child is simply working with their own multiplication times table.

I wanted to give me students daily mental maths practice in a fun and different way. I have provided a way of generating pairs of numbers using a spinning top. The numbers could be added together, subtracted from each other, the numbers could be multiplied or divided, depending on the age and ability of your class. This test is designed so different children in the same class could be doing the same test, but with different number operations. This means every child is actively involved in the lesson! This daily mental maths practice will be updated on a daily basis!

As they are different colours, you can also take the 2 dice and say, the red dice is the tens and the white dice is the units and generate lots of different 2-digit numbers.
