I could not find any fun, free Year 1 Mental Maths tests. While I made a get set of PowerPoints yesrs ago, I have discovered, like everyone else, I simply don’t use PowerPoints anymore. I focus much more on YouTube and other video services. I thought I should get my resources up to date and so I have added a Year 1 Term 1 Mental Maths Test 1 for you to use.
Fun Random Number Math Game - where I sound like a chipmunk. I generate 8 different numbers each day which my students use for adding, subtracting, multiplying and other exciting maths games. I sometimes just give them the first 5 numbers in the video and ask them to work out how they could make the number 100 using the 4 different number operations.
I have set myself the task of creating a Daily Multiplication Quiz - Day 2 - for my students. I found a cool old board in a junk shop and then went about using it to generate as many different numbers as I wanted in an exciting way. The kids who have tried this lesson have all really enjoyed themselves. Even better, if you try theDaily Multiplication Quiz - Day 2 - you will find you can have all the kids working on different times tables and still take the quiz as a whole class. You can even use it to teach them how to subtract numbers from 100 instead. Each day come back and try another version of this fun game!
Daily random numbers - Maths game. Every day I will generate 8 new numbers and as a creative maths teacher you can use them in the classroom.
You could simply get the kids to make as many additions as possible in a certain amount of time, you could get them to add, divide, multiply or sort.
If you stop the video after only 5 numbers, you could the class to work out how they can make 100 or as near to 100 as possible with just 5 numbers. It is a whole new concept in maths. Every day, for your maths warmup, you simply show them the latest video and then devise a simple, high speed maths game.
You could even differentiate by getting different table to complete different tasks, all using the same numbers.
I wanted to create a fun multiplication quiz for my students. I wanted one I cpuld easily make each day for the students. I will be uploading a new movie each day. The idea is that you take these numbers and multiply them by the timetable of your choice!
This fun multiplication quiz lets you test all the class at the same time, as each child is simply working with their own multiplication times table.
I wanted to give me students daily mental maths practice in a fun and different way. I have provided a way of generating pairs of numbers using a spinning top. The numbers could be added together, subtracted from each other, the numbers could be multiplied or divided, depending on the age and ability of your class. This test is designed so different children in the same class could be doing the same test, but with different number operations. This means every child is actively involved in the lesson! This daily mental maths practice will be updated on a daily basis!
Here is my Daily Multiplication Test - Day 3 which I use in my classroom. The children choose their own multiplication test and then we multiply each number by the chosen number in 10 seconds. The children could also use the same numbers to subtract from 100.,
Here is my 3 Dice Math Game video. You can use it to play games with 3 dice, generate three-digit numbers or a 2-difit number and a 1 digit number. How many different numbers can you make from 3 dice? There are endless ways of using this resource. I really hope you find this 3 Dice Math Game as useful as I have.
I created a 2 Dice 2 Colours Maths Game so you can play any game requiring 2 dice. I really hope you find my 1 Dice Maths Game useful.
I teach a lot online. I wanted to develop a long 2 Dice Maths Game video so I can play and every child can see. These 2 dice could be also used to generate lots of 2-digit numbers, multiply numbers, add the dots. There are endless different fun dice maths games you can play with your students. I hope you really enjoy this 2 Dice Maths Game.
I created this 2 Dice Math Game as I needed to play a game with 2 dice with my students. The video is 10 minutes long so you will hopefully not need to restart it to carry on the game.
The dice could also be used for adding numbers together, multiplying them or generating 2 digit numbers for use in the class room. I hope you enjoy playing the 2 Dice Math Game as much as my class does.
I designed this Math Class Music video so the children just see dice being thrown again and again for 30 minutes. It is something you could put on your whiteboard while children are working in their books. It is relaxing to watch and of course, if a parent or another teacher comes in, they will dice and numbers and be convinced you have got the right math working atmosphere. Try Math Class Music and see if it makes a difference in your class. Do this while children colour something related to maths.
4 Dice Math Game was designed for teachers who need to use 4 dice in the classroom for a number of different reasons. They might need to generate 4 digit numbers, the dice could be used to make 2 x 2-digit numbers for math class.
I made a full 10 minutes of dice shaking so teachers could start anywhere in the video to get completely random shakes every time. This is also an excellent resource for students to use to work out the probability of different numbers coming up.
If you are learning Dutch and you are looking for a way of translating from English into Dutch, then this is a great start. This resource would still need a dutch teacher as everything is in English. You look at the pictures and try to name things in Dutch.
Here are lots of different mental maths resources, including lots of different multiplication and division tests you can use through the year. They are designed that you can repeat a times table test without needing to repeat the same set of numbers each time.

I have tried to make learning fun. My powerpoints combine the original question papers with the original marking scheme. This means that after each question, immediately comes the answers. My idea is that a teacher shows the question, lets the class answer it using mini whiteboards. Then the students can explain their different strategies and see what would have gained marks and how to improve their work.
This pack contains both Level 3 to Level 5 material and also Level 6 tests. Every child should try every test. This helps to extend and challenge the main group, while consolidating the learning of the more advanced children. Even more effective teaching learning is to pair the advanced and less advanced - the effort of teaching the less able child actually improves the understanding and verbal explanation of maths.
This teaching pack could be used in the classroom for whole class teaching, small group teaching or at home with a tutor.
I have developed a set of weekly Mental Maths for Year 4 children for teachers who want to include Minecraft in the classroom.
I wanted to develop resources where a teacher can teach with Minecraft in a classroom with a single computer and a projector.
I need to mention that Minecraft was created by Mojang AB. and I am not endorsed, associated or affiliated with Mojang AB in any way.
Making multiplication times tables fun. These timetables books are both fun to make and fun to use. They are a great way of helping students to learn their multiplication tables.
I was trying to think of different ways of making practicing time tables more fun. This is a fun activity. I wanted it to be tricky enough that there was more than one set of different timestables to use. I decided that 4 different varients meant no child could simply learn the numbers off by heart - by time they have completed all 4 books for each multiplication timetable, they will be proficient in that book.
You can start off with the easier multiplication tables such as the x2, x5 and x10 for the beginners, before moving onto the middle range books such as x3, x4, x6 and x8. Finally rounding off with the most challenging books.
Perfect for Homeworks etc. I have now made it into an easy print books to make your life easier.
Child make mini origami books, each with the times table in them and then the answers at the end, so they can be used for self checking. If you prefer no answers, it is a matter of moments to edit out the answers using a paint program. They can be used for testing or simple revision.
