I am a music specialist and the music I write is original, tested on children and for the less confident teacher. My aim is to provide you with everything you need to fulfil Topic requirements and those of the National Curriculum (without having to prepare anything.) I provide Power Points/videos and give you mp3s and lyrics. Notation is sometimes given. The instrumental parts are dead easy!

The resource opens with the music Speed bonny boat as the children enter assembly. Note in order for the music to work, the PowerPoint must be in Slide mode (fully open) The PowerPoint then asks children various questions about Scotland, A video is available for downloads if your school has not got access to YouTube .Web-links are to original sources

Machines. Composing for non specialist

A powerpoint with inbuilt videos and guidance to create a composition about machines A silent video is used at the end and children play along side it once they have decided which instruments are appropriate. Children are encouraged to look at the movement of the machines and from that observation, gain clues as to the type of sound, pitch or rhythm could be used. I am using this as part of a topic about the Industrial Revolution A stand alone video ' Silent machines ...... ' is available for download if you want to add your class composition to it.

Crispy cold - a little rap for little people

Audio and visual in powerpoint plus worksheet. ( Video in YouTube) It's about getting dressed to go out in the cold. The co lours are reinforced in the worksheet. This is the first time I&'ve tried to illustrate this myself so be gentle with me !!!! The claves tap a pulse when the claves picture is shown. There are pictures of the different stages of getting dressed for visual prompts It would help me enormously if you viewed the web page before downloading my free resources This helps me gain recognition as a song writer. Thank you

How an American school tackled bullying

I ran the first video as the children came into Assembly.. It sets the mood for a thoughtful approach to the topic ' Bullying ' The second part shows how the problem.was tackled. In between the videos, you might like to ask the children what the solution could be. The original video is on the web address. I have edited the music of the original video to make it suitable for Assemblies, I have made it available here as I know some schools are not allowed to use You-tube

easy composing Mayan music for non specialist

N.B I have downloaded this resource and had no problem opening the video. You do need PowerPoint 2010 The starting point is a clip showing a recreation of Mayan music . It is deliciously spooky. I have edited the original video (URL in PPT) for a child's attention span.. You will need ordinary class percussion instruments and any kind of recorder etc. You do not need to be able to play it. Let me know if you have fun My children loved it.

Music making - Handa's surprise'

A simple technique for making up a song using the names of the fruit in the book 'Handa's surprise' It looks attractive too. You could scan them into a powerpoint so all the children can sing or play each others work. This will work with fruit or animals in the topic whether or not you are doing 'Handa&'s surprise'

The monks of Lindisfarne.Gregorian chants

PowerPoint works in conjunction with the videos in downloads..Using the Viking raids as a starting point, the PowerPoint looks at the chanting of monks from Benedictine to the modern Gregorians. Both videos are very soothing and can be played as a standalone resource before Assemblies or in a quiet time of the day. The work concludes with a little leaflet that is a response to the music. Mix and match! Web addresses to these source materials are included.
