A settlements and geography themed colouring page created for a lesson about hamlets, villages, towns, and cities. This is the church and clock tower on the tiny British Channel Island of Alderney. The island has a population of around 1000 but a new church had to built in the 1900s as the island's population increased when British soldiers were stationed on the island and the church was too small to accommodate all the new arrivals. Today the island has more than 4 churches, and just a handful of shops so everything has to be brought in by plane or ship. This lesson has been created by real life explorer Sarah Weldon FRGS as part of her preparation for a world first solo row around the coast of Britain in 2017. It takes a fun look at the history of the business card, and why people, including explorers need a business card.
