Inside a World War Two Bunker
A collection of photos taken in and around the World War Two bunkers on the British Channel Island of Alderney, which was evacuated and became the base for four prisoner of war camps, and a large fortified wall. Photos are taken at Bibette Head and across the island, including the Anti Aircraft bunker known as 'The Odeon'. I made a video of the bunkers (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VsXKBVzIBWo), and run free virtual field trips of the bunkers for schools through Skype in the Classroom. A collection of photos and hand drawn colouring pages of the World War Two bunkers on the British Channel Island of Alderney, which was evacuated and became the base for four prisoner of war camps, and a large fortified wall. Photos are taken at Bibette Head and across the island, including the Anti Aircraft bunker known as ‘The Odeon’. The bundle would also be relevant for discussions about materials such as concrete and metal, sea water corrosion of metal, architecture and design, engineering, and the human impacts of the war. The local children were evacuated first, and Jewish labourers were brought to the camps. Today on the island you will find older generations and families where the labourers married the soldiers and the soldiers remained after the war to help clear up the 30,000 or more land mines. Why was the island part of Hitler’s Atlantic Wall? Was there a strategy in place? How was the concrete brought to the island by ship? How did they use concrete to camouflage the bunkers to look like rocks? Why did the soldiers take wood from the houses to burn?

A small collection of photos from my time living and working in the country of Georgia. Bread in Georgia is usually salty and cooked by sticking it to the inside of a round brick oven. It has a classic, flat, shape, with two narrow bits on either end - ideal for holding on to.

Schools Around the World: Georgia: Where we Live
A small collection of photos from my own travels and visits to schools around the world. This is a school in the rural village of Vale in the region of Samtskhe Javakheti, in Georgia. The classroom has no electricity or lighting, and is heated by a log stove that the children look after through the day. In the winter children sit in hats and gloves at their desks. There is no school uniform, and students must buy their own books, paper, and pencils for learning.

British Food and Food Traditions
A collection of photos that I am putting together as I row my boat around the entire coast of Great Britain. I plan to take a lot of photos of foods from around the coast and country, from lava bread in Wales to Haggis in Scotland, and Jellied eels in London. So check back on this resource as it grows.
I hope it will be of interest to students with English as a Foreign Language and for students studying tourism or wanting to know more about traditional and favourite foods in Britain.
