This is a phonic power point for the phoneme /sh/. Phonological awareness concepts are included, such as; identifying the /sh/ sound in the beginning, middle and end of words and blending sounds to read words. For differentiation purposes, some extension slides are included that cover sounds not regularly taught prior to the /sh/ phoneme. Sound buttons under each word encourage students to sound out each word prior to reading. At the end of the slide there is an activity whereby teachers can allow students to brainstorm words that have the target phoneme in various places (beginning, middle and end).

Phonic Roll and Read game boards. These games are differentiated. Choose the boards that target your specific phonemes and the graphemes you are teaching. A consolidation, or extension, board is provided for each target phoneme that includes a combination of graphemes. This is an easy way to differentiate phonic activities in a classroom. When students arrive to the ‘Roll and Read’ table, they simply choose the board that has their target graphemes on. Graphemes include; ai, ay, a-e, ee, e, ea, y , oa, ow, o ar One board for each grapheme introduced A consolidation board is included with all graphemes for the target phoneme (sound) Instruction sheet is provided for the teacher Teacher checklist to record skills used by students to decode the words Blank board to write your own words on The target phoneme is underlined on each board so it will prompt the student to say the sound as a whole (e.g. ‘feet’) Most words are one syllable but there are some two syllable words included I hope you find this useful. This is a phonic powerpoint that was created as a warm up or revision of all of the initial alphabet code (a-z) in random order. There are also slides included that ask students to identify the initial sound of a picture shown for all of the sounds a-z. A voice over is also included so that students can listen to the teacher and repeat the sounds (as a small group activity with a splitter for headphones).
