This lesson continues the theme of ‘who held the power in Nazi Germany?’ It focuses on the role of the German army and Hitler’s dependence on its support; the conflict with traditional conservatives; and the plan to kill Hitler (the Kreisau Circle). All activities are built into the power point. Students are expected to reach a conclusion on the significance of the army, and how far Hitler could depend on its support. This is a bundle of 3 lessons which investigates whether or not a revolution occurred in Germany under the Nazis in 1933-34. It focuses on the concept of a revolution, and the various actions of Hitler and the Nazis during those years - did they equate to a revolution based on the definition? Each lesson takes an hour to teach, and activities/points for discussion are included in the power points. Assessment: 10 mark question comparing the importance of the Reichstag Fire and the Night of Long Knives 20 mark question assessing whether or not 1933-34 did represent a revolution in Germany.
