This product is a five page list of 100 short answer questions taken from the adapted version of the play in the AGS Illustrated Classic comic book. (see picture of cover) It is a great tool to check for basic understanding of the plot and characters. It can be divided into Acts and used as quizzes, or it can be used as an "answer as you read" activity. It is a great way to teach the students to enjoy Shakespeare's stories and characters without the difficulty of the language. This sixty-seven pg. document consists of MULTIPLE CHOICE tests for each chapter in the book, They Cage the Animals at Night. The questions are basic comprehension and literary elements. They are designed to be completed as the book is read. Some of the longer chapters have many questions, but they could be edited down. After completing the questions as they read, a few of the questions can be given the next day as a quiz to check for comprehension. This is a "non-put-downer" book that every one will love. It is an autobiographical story about five brothers who handle life's terrible situations in a variety of ways. This product is a chapter by chapter reading check. If I want to know if a student has read a book, I flip it open and start reading. If the student can tell me what's going on in the particular part, I am reading, then they have read the book. I used this idea to create this chapter by chapter reading check. Students read the sentences from the chapter, then write down who and what is going on in that particular part of the chapter. This can also be used as an open-book assignment. It's a wonderful way to see if they have read comprehensively. I also have MULTIPLE CHOICE tests and SHORT ANSWER questions, and MOVIE quizzes for this book!!!!

Yearly warm-ups 300 Usages I have a great warm-up activity for every day of the school year. I have flash cards for 300 word usages. THEY ARE LISTED AS A SEPARATE PRODUCT LISTING. Each day my students pick up half an index card by my classroom door. They then copy the word usage on the middle of the unlined side and the definition and/or rule on the top of the lined side. After I check the roll, I give them an explanation, grammar rule, part of speech and/or the definitions to the word usage example that they copied on their cards. They write the information I give them under the definition they wrote on the back of the card. (I grade the cards ever so often). Then I use the big flashcards to review them every day. I hold them up and have the students yell out the definitions. Sometimes we use them to race or play around the world. I then provide them each with a ring to hook all of the cards together. This arrangement of writing on the cards makes them little flashcards, so the students can review and study the cards by themselves. Every Friday I give them a Usage quiz over all of the words up to and including that week's. By the end of the year, each of them knows 300+ word usages that they recognize in many reading, writing, and testing situations.
