About Heron Hall Academy

Welcome to Heron Hall Academy

At Heron Hall Academy, we are committed to creating an environment where every student can achieve their full potential. As a growing academy, we are always looking for passionate, talented individuals to join our team and contribute to the success and development of our students.

Our Vision

We aim to be an outstanding academy, recognised for its excellent academic standards, where students can succeed in any social sphere. Our vision extends beyond academic achievements, focusing on developing students as well-rounded individuals, ready to excel in their futures.

Our Values

At Heron Hall Academy, values are crucial as they provide a clear framework that guides students' behaviour and decision-making. These values create a sense of community and belonging, helping to foster a positive and respectful academy environment. By teaching values, we prepare students with essential life skills that extend beyond academics, shaping them into responsible and empathetic individuals. These values encourage a culture of high expectations, motivating students to strive for excellence in all aspects of their lives. Ultimately, our values lay the foundation for students to become engaged, thoughtful and resilient members of society.

Our STRIVE Values

One of the key pillars of life at Heron Hall is the focus on developing students’ character education. We aim to help them develop the skills and traits to thrive in life. We call these our STRIVE values.

Supportive: I help my peers and my teachers

Tolerant: I respect other people’s differences

Resilient: I never give up when it’s tough

Integrity: I do the right thing all of the time

Visionary: I aim higher and further

Excellence: I never settle for less than my best

Achievements and Recognition

Heron Hall Academy is proud of its many achievements. Here are some of the highlights:

Headteacher of the Year (2022-23): Our Headteacher, Arthur Barzey, was honoured to be named The Times UK Headteacher of the Year. This recognition is a testament to the tremendous teaching and learning team we have at Heron Hall.

Secondary School of the Year Finalist (2021): We were delighted to have been selected as a finalist for the UK’s Secondary School of the Year award, run by the prestigious Pearson Teaching Awards, and winning a Bronze Award.

A Bright Future at Heron Hall

Every year we are over-subscribed, which speaks to the trust our community places in us. Heron Hall is increasingly becoming the first choice academy for Year 6 pupils. As we continue to grow, we are developing an evolving curriculum and a wide range of extra-curricular activities that will ensure all students, regardless of their individual starting points, become well-rounded individuals. Our goal is to provide our students with the skills, qualities, and qualifications that allow them to fulfil their ambitions, whether that may be through college, university, or an apprenticeship.
