Outwood Academy Shafton is an Ofsted Good rated, 11-16 academy and we are delighted to be based in the picturesque village of Shafton, in the South Yorkshire metropolitan borough of Barnsley, near Sheffield. Part of the Outwood Family since 2015, we are delighted that after its latest inspection, Ofsted noted that ‘staff morale is high and pupils are positive about their learning experiences’ with us.

We are focused on giving students the best life chances by creating a culture of success, a positive climate for learning, and increased attainment, achievement and social and emotional development. We want learning to be loved and valued by everyone and we aim to create a safe and secure learning community that encourages healthy lifestyles and creates the self-supporting citizens of the future. We are innovators with a knowledge-rich curriculum, designed to personalise learning for every student, helping them to reach their potential

We work hard to ensure we reduce workload on staff, allowing more time in the classroom to put our vision of students first, raising standards and transforming lives into practice.

As a founding Trust of the National Institute of Education (NIoT), we will actively invest in your future through working closely with the Outwood Institute of Education and NIoT to offer access to a wide range of CPD opportunities, with all teaching staff receiving a minimum of two hours of CPD each week.
