About St Augustine Academy

St Augustine Academy was rated GOOD in our last Ofsted inspection in February 2018, across every single category.

As a co-educational Church of England, secondary school in Maidstone, Kent, we currently have 749 students between the ages of 11 and 16 on our school roll as of the last Census in October 2020.

Our principal is an experienced leader, determined to provide a well-rounded education for all the pupils in our school, well supported by our senior leaders, and together we set a tone of concern and care for all who attend or work at the school that demonstrates our Christian distinctiveness.

Our journey is one where we continue to improve and thrive, and every member of staff is passionate about improving the life chances of all our students.

We are proud that our teaching, learning, and assessment are carefully structured to match the needs of all our pupils. Our curriculum is broad and balanced and offers a wide choice for pupils at different stages of their options processes. Our outcomes are improving year on year, and those in English and mathematics are already comparable to national averages.

Our ethos reflects our deep commitment to delivering an outstanding education to the students we teach. We prioritise inclusion and value individuals and excel in delivering pastoral care and personalised learning paths for our all our students. Our aim is to offer students not only a first-class education but also to teach them life skills that will provide benefits beyond their time with us. We believe that our academies should enrich the communities they serve and play an active role in their development. We are particularly proud of our well developed, pastoral teams and our offering to our students who have special educational needs and/or disabilities, including those who attend our autism resource centre.

We are committed to continual CPD and a positive work life balance for staff. We offer additional training days, support staff to complete additional qualifications, and remove unnecessary workload. Staff are fully consulted and involved in developing Academy policies.

We have a fair and supportive performance management process that allows for enhanced pay progression, plus up to £2,000 Recruitment and Retention payment for the right candidate (subject to terms and conditions)*.

We are one of six Academies that make up the Woodard Academies Trust (WAT). WAT is part of the Woodard family of schools. Created by founder Nathaniel Woodard in 1848, Woodard is the largest group of independent Church of England schools in England and Wales. Woodard Academies Trust and Woodard Schools share a common ethos and vision: to inspire young people to make a difference.
