The Harrodian School

The Harrodian School is a mixed, non-denominational all-through independent day school situated in Barnes, South West London. The Harrodian School was founded by Lady Eliana and Sir Alford Houston-Boswell and opened in 1993. The school’s original intake of 65 students has expanded to over 900 students from the ages of 4-18. It offers state-of-the-art facilities, including a music centre, drama studios and expansive grounds.

The Harrodian School wants all students to develop a love of learning in a happy and engaging school environment. Pupils are encouraged to become confident and independent thinkers, and are supported by specialist teachers to provide them with a challenging and stimulating education. The school implements the importance of good manners and consideration for others at all times.  

The Harrodian School wants students to feel inspired to excel in all areas of the curriculum, while developing a range of new interests and skills. Music plays a key role at The Harrodian School, who believe that “everyone; pupils and staff should have the opportunity to take part and enjoy music. It is not elitist.. it is for all”. Along with the school’s music teachers, there are 25 visiting instrumental teachers.

Children in the Early Years Foundation Stage have excellent attitudes to learning and are enthusiastic about all elements of their work and play. The vast majority of pupils in the rest of the school have similarly very positive attitudes to their work; behaviour and attendance are good. Pupils are exceptionally positive about the many extra- curricular activities that are offered; participation rates are high”.
