About The Mirfield Free Grammar & Mirfield College
Founded in 1667 The Mirfield Free Grammar and Mirfield College has a long established tradition of success and promotes values such as respect, honesty, integrity, morality and courtesy. We strive for excellence in everything we do. The MFG is a vibrant learning environment; everything we do, every decision we make is focused on the students and how we can inspire them to achieve the very best for themselves academically and personally.
We work hard to maintain a happy and well-run Academy, where students feel confident to thrive and develop. We strive to make our Academy a place of sound, stimulating and appropriate learning, where every student can achieve his/her potential. We create a caring community where great emphasis is placed upon good relationships and partnerships to encourage respect, understanding, co-operation and collaboration.
The Mirfield Free Grammar has an inspirational, positive, caring and welcoming environment, where all students can achieve their full academic, personal, spiritual and social potential.
Everyone at The Mirfield Free Grammar strives to ‘achieve excellence together’ and this vision is embedded in ‘THE MFG Character’ across our school community, alongside Quality First Teaching.
We endeavour to create well-rounded, happy and confident young people who are able to contribute positively within the community. We believe that by developing ‘THE MFG Character’ of Tenacity, Health, Equity, Morality, Flourish and Generosity in all our students it will enable us to achieve this.
Our staff lead by example and work hard to ensure that our young people feel happy, valued and secure, but equally they endeavour to enthuse them with a sense of aspiration, optimism and ambition. Work ethic is important and so is attitude. We encourage a ‘can do’ attitude in relation to both work and play, and our expectations are extremely high.
