Falcons School are looking to appoint a 1:1 Learning Support Assistant to work closely with the class teacher to provide a safe, happy and stimulating learning environment for a pupil. This role is a fixed term contract, and the incumbent will work 11 hours per week, term-time only. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work confidently with the individual pupil.
  • While in school, be in charge of maintaining and supervising the use of the equipment specific to the child’s needs.
  • Monitor progress in assimilating new information. Liaise with the class and subject teachers if opportunities are required for the pupil to revisit and practice areas of learning, or if they need to be introduced to new learning experiences individually, in advance of the class/group.
  • Ensure that the pupil has opportunities to develop their skills as an independent learners
  • With the guidance of the class teacher, SENDCo and other professionals, deliver intervention programmes designed to support the pupil in their learning.
  • Contribute to reviews of the pupil’s learning support plans and annual reviews of the Educational Health Care Plan, including commenting on progress towards set targets and ideas for new targets to be set.
  • Supervise the pupil at breaks and provide support with social engagement.
  • Form good relationships with all members of staff.
  • Liaise with multi-disciplinary teams and the pupil’s parents.
  • Help the pupil to integrate into the school community as a whole.

  • Ability to demonstrate and promote good practice in line with the ethos of the school; 
  • Ability to communicate effectively with adults and children; 
  • Good written, verbal and non-verbal communication.  
  • Proactive and positive team player, able to work constructively as part of a team; 
  • Enthusiasm for learning and working with children; 
  • Caring, friendly, approachable, open, welcoming, and personable; 
  • Able to maintain confidentiality at all times.  
  • Willingness to participate in other development and training opportunities  


Desirable: 

  • Proven experience of working with children;   
  • Experience of working in a school environment; 
  • Experience of working as part of a team
  • Level 3 TA Diploma 
  • Safeguarding Awareness Course
  • Paediatric First Aid Certificate
