Job overview

We are seeking an exceptional individual to join our team at Mayfield School in Torquay which provides support to children at Key Stage 1 to 4 with SLD/PMLD special educational needs.

We are looking to employ a Level 3 Teaching Assistant to work with one of our young pupils who will be supported on a 2:1 ratio due to his complex needs.

Desirable skills:

 

  • A passion for creating fun and engaging ways to support students with complex needs
  • Experience of working with children and young people who can exhibit behaviour that can challenge
  • A good understanding of SEN needs and reasons for complex behaviour
  • Experience of physical restrictive intervention strategies would be an advantage
  • The ability to be a great team player and also be able to work independently and use initiative
  • An open-minded and inquisitive approach to the job but the ability to work to agreed strategies and procedures
  • The ability to develop and sustain positive relationships with children, fellow staff members and families



 Working hours will be 8.40am to 3.40pm, Term time only. This role will be on an open ended temporary contract based on external funding.


The starting salary for a Level 3 Teaching Assistant, based on 5 days a week (actual) is £16,389.05 per annum, paid equally across 12 months.
