Job overview

ACS International School is seeking an Assistant Finance Accountant for our Cobham campus, to assist with accounting, reporting and tax matters, providing key support to the Financial Accountant.

The successful candidate will be working 8:30 – 4:30pm, non term time/52 weeks per year.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Accounting, reporting and governanace
  • Account for and prepare financial statements for the group subsidiary
  • Monthly debtors management and approval of sales invoices of a group subsidiary
  • Assist with external audit (interim and final)
  • Maintain the Fixed Asset Register and prepare monthly depreciation journals
  • Reconcile fixed assets and the inter-company accounts on a monthly basis
  • Account for and reconcile catering income
  • Prepare quarterly VAT return for review by Financial Accountant (including Partial Exemption and Capital Goods Scheme).
  • Prepare Statistical returns (Office for National Statistics)
  • Manage anti-bribery training annually
  • Preparation of P11D submission.


Insurance

  • Review and investigate the forms submitted for new drivers and maintain the records of insured drivers
  • Data collection for insurance claims and renewals
  • Assist with ad-hoc insurance queries.


Systems and controls

  • Document and review system procedures and processes
  • Systems administration support for Access Dimensions and Focal Point: set up new Users; make adjustments to profiles when authorised; troubleshoot problems; log users off after systems issues and update system exchange rates
  • Manage licences for the Finance Systems.


Treasury and banking

  • Update the weekly cashflowCheck credit ratings each month.

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

  • Part-Qualified Accountant (ACCA/CIMA)
  • Core knowledge of financial accounting, tax matters and external reporting
  • Strong Excel and IT skills
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills in order to adhere to deadline
  • Good finance systems knowledge.

The Dormitory provides a home-away-from-home for over 100 students, aged 12-18 (7th through 12th Grades). Boarders share ergonomically designed two-person rooms with ensuite facilities and internet connections; there are student lounges, kitchens, computer and study rooms. Six full-time Dormitory house parents and over ten resident teaching staff ensure an active yet well-considered programme of pastoral care, friendship and advisor groups, house activities and weekend trips.
