Pentland Field School, part of the Eden Academy, is a good school; we are proud of the way our school community works together to achieve the very best for our children. 

We are looking to appoint an Assistant Head of School, with responsibility for 14-19 provision, commencing as soon as possible. 

This is an exciting opportunity for candidates seeking to develop their leadership career. Pentland Field has over 170 pupils aged 4-19, with a range of learning difficulties. Including additional social, emotional and behavioural challenges. A significant proportion of pupils have an Autistic Spectrum Condition, or present with more complex social and communication difficulties. A small but significant group of pupils have Higher Sensory Processing Needs.  

We are looking to appoint a highly motivated and enthusiastic Assistant Head of School to work as a crucial part of the school’s leadership and management team.  

We are looking for someone who will:  

  • bring strategic leadership to the 14-19 provision within the school   
  • be operationally responsible for the leadership of the Post 16 provision   
  • ensure high quality provision across the school, leading on areas of school development, as identified by the Headteacher, which results in excellent outcomes for all learners. 
  • contribute to the strategic development of the school through active membership of the school’s Senior Leadership Team.  
  • support the Headteacher in the day-to-day management of the school.  
  • support the work of safeguarding and child protection within across the school, by taking the role of Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead.  
  • carry out the professional duties of a teacher, to include teaching a class or classes (usually up to 0.5 of time in school).  
  • undertake such additional duties as are delegated by the Headteacher  

The Eden Academy provides extensive opportunities for aspiring leaders to become Deputy Heads, Heads of School or Headteachers.

Location: The Eden Academy Trust (Pentland Field School).  The Eden Academy may from time to time require an employee to be relocated temporarily or permanently to one of its other schools.  Any proposal to relocate will be carried out with due consultation and reasonable notice.
