Nore Academy is a brand-new SEN school soon to open on the Isle of Sheppey.

We will be opening our doors early in 2025. We will cater for young people aged 11-16 with a primary need of SEMH and other related areas of SEN such as ASD. The first phase of opening will see pupils in KS3 join across years 7, 8 and 9 many of whom may have been out of school for some time.

We are looking for a dynamic, visionary and inspirational Assistant Headteacher. You will have a pivotal role in our Senior Leadership team and will be instrumental in driving the vision into reality for this exciting new school.

·      The successful candidate will be required to lead on Behaviour Support. Personal Development and SEN specialist interventions as well being the Head of KS3. This is an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role in establishing the positive and inclusive culture within this new provision for the children on the isle of Sheppey. We are looking for someone who is relentless in their pursuit of positive outcomes for young people and willing to lead by example to effectively role-model what they expect of others. The role will inevitably evolve and change as the school expands, the successful candidate must be willing to work flexibly and adjust to changing needs and priorities as the school develops.

·      You must have high expectations in relation to individual progress and an uncompromising ambition for all pupils to succeed.

·      Partnership working is a crucial element of this role, and you must have proven experience of building and maintaining successful stakeholder relationships.

·      The role will include the line management of support staff.

·      This is a full-time, permanent position on Teachers’ Leaderships pay L8- L12.

 

 

The successful applicant will have:

·      A thorough knowledge of the effects trauma or neurological conditions can have on child development

·       Experienced of leading practice in positive behaviour support.

·      An in-depth knowledge of the EHCP process including Annual Reviews, target setting and approaches to support pupils needs as described in the section F of the plans.

·      Previous leadership experience

·      Previous Line Management Experience

·      Previous experience within with SEN and a background of supporting children with social and emotional difficulties.

·      Child centred values and have the needs of the children at the core of your decision making.

Alternative Learning Trust (ALT) is a multi-academy trust (MAT) for Pupil Referral Units (PRUs), Alternative Provisions (APs), and Specialist Settings. Nore Academy will become the sixth school of The Alternative Learning Trust; The other schools of the trust includes Limes College, Estuary Academy North, Estuary Academy Island, Will Adams Academy, Saffron Valley Collegiate. The Trust has been established to work with Pupil Referral Units (PRUs) and alternative providers who support vulnerable students to access and engage with education. Background to Will Adams Academy

Will Adams Academy is located in Gillingham and joined Alternative Learning Trust in April 2022. The school has recently reorganised their structure and is working closely with our Gravesend school in sharing facilities, expertise and curriculum development. Ofsted outcome – Good. Will Adams is our smallest Kent & Medway hub school with only 45 children, but it is also home to our exceptional SEMH Assessment Centre and Apollo Training programmes which are commissioned by the Medway Local Authority.
