About Us

AIM North London is an 11-19 mixed, multi-cultural comprehensive school in Enfield. We have just over 600 students, with over 50 languages spoken throughout the Academy and a significant proportion of students eligible for the pupil premium. AIM North London has been a part of the AIM Trust since 2019 and the school has been on an incredible journey over the last four years. We are delighted that our first three sets of published GCSE outcomes in the Summers of 2022, 23 and 24 make us the most improved school in North London. Our recent OFSTED report (December 2023) judged the school to be ‘Good’ in all categories for the first time in the school’s history. Pupils’ behaviour and attitudes towards their school, each other and staff was highly praised: “pupils feel happy and safe here, demonstrating a sense of pride towards their school” and “pupils show respect to staff and to each other”. Our “clear and consistent routines” which “ensure pupils behave well and focus on their learning within a calm and purposeful environment” were commended. Teachers were also recognised for their “expert knowledge of the subjects they teach” which they “use to design pupils’ learning” and “high expectations of all pupils, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND)”. School leaders were praised by the inspection team for “considering the workload and well-being of staff when making decisions” and implementing a “coaching model” so teachers can “learn from each other’s practice” Inspectors said school leaders had “identified the key knowledge they want pupils to know and remember and “thought carefully about the order they teach subject content”.

We are delighted with the progress that we have made over the last four and a half years, and are looking forward to building on our success in order to become a truly transformational school for our community. We are excited for you to join us on our journey.

The Opportunity

We are looking to recruit an Assistant Principal who is driven, solutions focussed and a brilliant classroom practitioner. Candidates should have excellent relationships with students and families and a track record of improving areas that they have been responsible for. Roles in our leadership team rotate on an annual basis so the specific area of responsibility will be decided on appointment. In this role, you will be line managed by the Principal - Clare Darley, and have opportunities to work closely with the Director of Academies – Carly Mitchell and Executive Principal - Paddy McGrath.

Why work at AIM North London?

Our mission is to develop the leadership potential of both our students and staff. We want to be at the forefront of developing the next generation of national school leaders. We offer exceptional professional development opportunities including weekly coaching (our coaching program has been established and led by the founder of Steplab, Josh Goodrich), weekly line management and a range of external opportunities such as the NPQSL. We are also proud to have been one of the first partner schools working with The Institute for Teaching on the Masters in Expert Teaching and have a close relationship with the Ambition School Leadership Program.

We have a commitment to engage in the latest educational research and this informs all aspects of the Academy, everything from curriculum design to our behaviour systems and finally, we have a focus on reducing workload by having centralised behaviour systems, and a reasonable assessment and feedback policy.
