The academy is based in Spilsby, an historic market town nestling between the beautiful Lincolnshire coastline and the rolling Lincolnshire Wolds. It is also within driving distance of several Market towns and the larger towns of Boston, Grimsby and the city of Lincoln. The academy is currently attracting students from a wide catchment area from Skegness, the surrounding area and as far as Boston, Alford and Louth.

About the role

  • You will work closely with the Attendance Welfare Coordinator, providing information and analysis reports that guide decision making for improved attendance overall as well as in support of individual pupils.
  • You will need to have the ability to maintain accurate and up to date attendance/lateness records both manually and electronically and to ensure ongoing monitoring of attendance for all children to promote good attendance across the school
  • You will be able to administer daily attendance and punctuality checks each morning and support following up the daily absences by telephone/message or other means including checking the school answerphone for absence messages and recording these appropriately.
  • You will be expected to take accurate minutes at meetings, record outcomes and liaise with parents as required or directed. You will also need to adapt to situations professionally and in a timely manner under the direction of your manager.

This is a permanent post, 37 hours per week, 39 weeks per year.

Who we are looking for

  • Educated to NVQ level 3/4 or equivalent
  • Knowledge of school systems and an understanding of the issues affecting truancy and non-school attendance.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of issues linked to confidentiality.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of attendance regulations
  • Demonstrate an understanding of issues that may affect a student’s ability to attend school
  • Experience working within a school attendance related service. Working with children, young people, parents and families preferably within an educational context.

The academy opened in September 2012 and is sponsored by the David Ross Education Trust. It is a smaller than average secondary school that can provide tailored support for your child. We are a non-selective school and believe that all students should have equal access to a good secondary education. The trust has made a strong contribution to improving the school's facilities, strengthening its leadership and improving the quality of teaching. Pupils' achievement has improved since the last inspection, especially in English, Mathematics and Science. Pupils made good progress in these subjects last year.
