We are seeking a friendly and dynamic teacher to join our large and established teaching team for our lovely Nursery class which welcomes three year-olds for both 15 and 30 hours of entitlement. This role is crucial in supporting our aspirational and ‘good’ school to continue to improve, as we look to always provide the very best for our wonderfully diverse children and families. Building great relationships, a belief in every child’s potential and a strong commitment to providing great teaching and learning opportunities across our school are a must.

Joining our school family means you’ll need to be:

  • An enthusiastic member of staff who is forward thinking and able to adapt quickly and easily.
  • Someone who puts children at the heart of all you do and is a positive role model.
  • Dynamic and fast-paced, finding effective solutions at every turn whilst considering others’ points of view.
  • A team player with the ability to work well both individually, as part of a phase and as a whole staff.
  • A kind and caring person, enjoying the bustling life of our diverse school family and always looking to recognise our polite and welcoming children.
  • An excellent English speaker and writer.
  • Efficient and effective in your working practices and able to prioritise well.

In return, our team can offer:

  • An optimistic and close-knit senior leadership team with a track record of improving schools.
  • A firmly established ethos of caring for one another in our school family.
  • A strong middle and senior leadership team who will guide and nurture you through your role.
  • A commitment to professional development, and a belief in driving improvement through looking outwards to the world beyond our walls.
  • The opportunity to work with a wider professional team of unique schools, all brilliantly supported by a Trust who strongly value the individual school’s character, ethos and approaches.
  • A beautiful and spacious school environment filled with love, light and kindness.
  • Secure car parking and a staff wellbeing package.

Application packs are available from the school website at www.newtown.reading.sch.uk under the ‘Contact Us’ and ‘Vacancies’ tabs.

Visits and tours are warmly welcomed; please come along to find out more about our lovely school and meet some of the senior leadership team who will happily chat about the opportunities available. Please contact us at workwithus@newtown.reading.sch.uk for more information.

Applications will be considered and interviews arranged upon receipt.

About New Town Primary School

New Town Primary School is a very special place where we believe all of our children, whatever their background, have a right to a fantastic education and to shine as young people.  Our school is proud to be a safe haven for the children of New Town, and we are very lucky to be located next to the canal in beautiful Victorian buildings, filled with light, space and love and where opportunities abound. Throughout our school we develop our children academically, behaviourally and spiritually, and we are proud of the diversity and togetherness of our children.

New Town is blessed to have a very wide range of children and families from different nationalities, and we celebrate and cherish our variety of faiths and personal experiences throughout our school.  We have a strong commitment to excellent pastoral care, and nurture the brilliance we see in every one of our pupils. We keep love, kindness and inclusivity at the heart of our leadership, teaching and communication with all.

Our school family is a special community to belong to, and we hope to inspire every one of our pupils to be ambitious and aspirational in their primary years.  We want our talented and diverse pupils to develop a deep-rooted belief that they can achieve excellence in anything they choose to do, and we have high expectations for each child at our school.  We are fully committed to helping our children become aspirational and optimistic, and to make positive and responsible choices that will mould them into confident, engaged and thriving members of society.

Education is at its best when we work together with our families who can help us to make the best of every learning opportunity, establishing clear links between celebrating achievements at home as well as at school.  We are fully committed to a positive open-door policy where parents and families are encouraged to talk to us and exchange information so that we can create a seamless and supportive relationship between home and school.  Building flourishing relationships, based on trust and honesty, amongst everyone in our school family is essential in achieving this.

We are very proud to be part of the Oxford Diocesan Schools Trust since 2022, which is a thriving Multi Academy Trust.  It has schools across Oxfordshire and Berkshire. It is one of the largest MATs in the region, with five geographical hubs to support school-to-school collaboration.

ODST values the unique identity of each school in the trust. Schools have the freedom to serve their individual communities in the way they know best, with support from ODST to ensure they have what they need to deliver the best for their pupils.

Relevant and statutory financial information can be found in the following link to ODST.  Oxford Diocesan Schools Trust - Key MAT information (odst.org.uk)

We welcome you to our wonderful school family.
