About us and the role

We are looking for an innovative and inspirational Class Teaching Assistant who puts the welfare and progress of children at the centre of everything they do and are able to support our students in reaching their full potential.

Avanti Park School is a beautiful Primary and Middle school (Reception to Year 8) in the heart of Frome, neighbouring Victoria Park. Our school is graded as ‘good’ with ‘outstanding’ in "behaviour and attitudes," "leadership and management," and "personal development."

What will you do?

  • Act as a role model for pupils and set high expectations while supporting their learning effectively.
  • Meet personal needs of pupils, fostering independence, and commit to safeguarding and welfare of children.
  • Support pupils with special educational needs, contribute to individual learning plans, and encourage cooperative interaction.
  • Assist teacher in planning, developing, and delivering curriculum, covering for teacher's absence when necessary.
  • Prepare classrooms, monitor pupil responses, administer tests, and maintain classroom displays.
  • Comply with school policies, attend meetings and training, provide emotional and social support to pupils, and assist with pastoral care and staff development.
  • Aid in curriculum development, including literacy, numeracy, and ICT skills, adapting resources as needed and undertaking additional duties as required.

What are we looking for?

  • Experience of working with relevant age group within a learning environment
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing
  • Experience of general administrative work
  • Ability to relate well to children and adults to build and maintain effective relationships
  • An ability to understand the principles of child development and learning processes and in particular barriers to learning
  • Promote and safeguard the welfare of children and young people within the school
