Are you passionate about technology and eager to make a significant impact in the education sector? Join our dynamic IT Service team at United Learning and help shape the future of digital learning across multiple academies. As a senior technical member, you will collaborate closely with the Cluster IT Services Manager to design, deploy and troubleshoot critical IT systems, ensuring seamless technology integration for teaching and learning.

Your role will be pivotal in maintaining high availability and performance of infrastructure, guiding and developing staff and contributing to a sustainable IT strategy that embraces emerging technologies and educational requirements.

This is more than just a technical position. It’s an opportunity to lead, innovate and inspire. You will provide expert-level support and ensure the integrity and security of IT systems across our academies. With a proactive, flexible and facilitative approach, you will uphold high standards of service, develop effective working relationships and contribute to the continuous improvement of our IT service. If you possess detailed knowledge of networking, server systems and Microsoft 365, along with a strong commitment to professional integrity and a can-do mindset, we invite you to apply and help us drive excellence in education through technology.

Please note, we reserve the right to close the vacancy earlier than the published end date should a suitable candidate apply.

Northampton Academy is a transformational comprehensive and non-selective school, serving a diverse community. We were proud to be judged 'outstanding' by Ofsted in all areas in March 2023. Our values, which underpin every decision we take, are RESPECT, DETERMINATION, AMBITION, TOLERANCE and INTEGRITY. We have a comprehensive student character-building programme, which has been nationally recognised through the Character Quality Mark Plus that was awarded in November 2021.

The leadership of the academy is completely determined to create an environment in which teachers can get on with their core role: delivering excellent lessons. To this end, the student behaviour system is clear and simple and easy to administer in lessons. If action is needed beyond these simple steps, the pastoral and senior teams take all the burden away from the teachers, conducting detentions, following up and dealing with parents on your behalf. Teachers at the academy speak of this as one of the major benefits of working here. In addition to this, teachers are trusted to be professionals through:

  • A genuine ‘flexi-working’ approach with at least one opportunity a week to come in      late or leave early for every teaching member of staff
  • No unannounced observations
  • No lesson grading
  • 3 extra INSET days per year for joint team planning
  • A feedback and recognition policy that lets teachers decide the best feedback mechanism for their own classes, rather than having this prescribed centrally

United Learning’s pledge, to all our academy teachers, is that by working for us you will benefit from more pay, more time and more support.

More pay…

• We pay an average of 5% above national scales – the best rates of pay in the sector

• Cash towards medical treatment

• Generous staff discount scheme

more time…

• Three extra INSET days for planning

• At least one personal day a year

and more support

• Great training for your career

• Exceptional curriculum resources

• Expert subject advice

• Support for your wellbeing

If you are passionate about teaching and inspiring students, we strongly encourage you to reach out and find out more about Northampton Academy and the fantastic opportunities available.

To support you in making your decision to apply for a role, our subject leaders are more than happy to have an informal conversation with you to answer your questions and provide insights into teaching and learning within the academy. Better yet, please arrange a visit to the school to experience our environment first hand and see why our team love what they do.
