About Us: The Leathersellers’ Federation of Schools is a multi-academy trust (MAT) comprising three schools:

  • Prendergast Ladywell School
  • Prendergast School
  • Prendergast Vale School

Your Role: As a co-opted governor, you will:

  • Challenge and Support: Scrutinise the school improvement plan and hold school leaders accountable for its delivery.
  • Policy Monitoring: Monitor the implementation and effectiveness of policies related to safeguarding, SEND, pupil premium, and equalities.
  • Engage with Stakeholders: Listen to and collaborate with pupils, parents, staff, and the wider community, including local employers.
  • Representation: Serve on headteacher recruitment panels and participate in Ofsted inspections.

  • Confidence: Be confident in contributing your unique perspective.
  • Curiosity: Ask questions and seek to understand.
  • Challenging Mindset: Provide constructive challenge to improve outcomes.
  • Creativity: Bring fresh ideas to the table.

Commitment:

  • Attend four local governing body meetings per year (approximately 2 hours each).
  • Participate in 1-2 monitoring visits to your allocated school.
  • Read relevant materials and engage fully during meetings.
  • School visits are expected.

Welcome to the Leathersellers’ Federation of Schools which includes Prendergast Ladywell School, Prendergast School, Prendergast Vale School, Prendergast Primary School and Prendergast Sixth Form.

The aim of the Federation is to provide an excellent education for children from the local community in a safe, inclusive, supportive learning environment. In our schools people are valued, make positive contributions to each school and pupils are taught to develop as responsible, independent members of society. We make sure that pupils leave with the best possible skills and qualifications to enable them to make the choices they want to make about their future. The Federation serves over 3000 young people in Good and Outstanding Schools in Lewisham.

All our schools share a common goal which is to provide excellent academic education and inclusive, personal support to all pupils. We are determined to continue to develop and sustain an outstanding educational service for our community. We value pupils’ diversity and actively teach and encourage all students to make positive contributions so that they become responsible, independent and successful members of society. Each school has its own identity and ethos, but all share these common values and purpose.

Our aim is to support all pupils to achieve through our high quality educational provision.  We do this through high quality teaching. We recognise too that all aspects of our provision contribute to pupils’ development. Our PSHE and Wellbeing provision, music service, the sports teams, the enrichment clubs, the trips and journeys, our provision in arts and drama, our school councils, all help develop the whole child. We know that happy confident pupils, who like and are engaged in all aspects of school life, are successful.
