We are looking to appoint an organised and enthusiastic Cover Supervisor on a full time or part time, term time basis. The position is integral in supporting the teaching staff at Halliford School and will additionally encompass administrative responsibilities.

Reporting to the Assistant Head Co-Curricular, the post holder will manage all aspects of teaching cover within the overall educational aims and values of the School and establish and maintain the highest quality possible of teaching and learning.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

The main responsibility of this role is the supervision of education of designated classes and groups of students at the direction of the Assistant Head Co-Curricular. The successful candidate will support with class supervision, working to achieve the School’s aims and objectives. They will work within the School’s curriculum plans, schemes of work and the policies drawn up by the School's Governing Body, as well as contributing to the ethos of the School.

We are seeking a flexible and dynamic individual to act as the first port of call for last minute, short-term cover needs within the staff body. Prior classroom experience would be beneficial but is not essential in order to be considered for the role. The position is an excellent opportunity for those considering a career in teaching.

Whole School Involvement

• Implement the School’s policies, practices and procedures in such a way as to support the School’s values and vision.

• Supervise any students where the timetabled teacher is not able to do so.

• To undertake supervision of the lunchtime queue and lunchtime activities, and supervision of specific areas as and when required.

• To support the School administratively during INSET, Open Days and Entrance Examination Days.

• To support the IT Technician during quieter times with, for example, photocopier upkeep, management of portable devices or trouble shooting minor errors.

Discipline, Health and Safety

• Maintain good order and discipline among the students you are supervising and share in the responsibility for the well-being and behaviour of all students in School. This includes the use of ISAMS, the School's Management Information System, to reward and sanction students appropriately.

• Safeguard the students’ and your own safety, both when authorised to be on the School premises and when you are engaged in authorised School activities elsewhere.

Administration

• Participate in administrative and organisational tasks related to duties, for example, attend assemblies, register students, ensuring absences or lateness are noted and appropriate action taken where there are concerns.

• Assist in the supervision of students, whether these duties are performed before or during School sessions.

• During quieter times relating to cover, act as administrative support to the SMT, and proactively seek tasks to support the smooth running of the School.

• Perform particular duties as may be reasonably assigned to you by the Headmaster, or his representatives, from time to time.

Safeguarding

• To ensure the safeguarding and well-being of children and young people at the School in accordance with

School Policies

• To adhere to School policy on safeguarding and updating training as required.
