Saint Cecilia’s Church of England School is an academically successful and over-subscribed non-selective secondary school, with an excellent reputation. Located close to Wimbledon Lawn Tennis Club, Saint Cecilia’s is well connected to central London and the West End, as well as the tranquil Surrey countryside, by exceptional transport links. The school lies withing the Inner London Weighting area, which adds a significant increase to salary.
The school’s vision is underpinned by its Christian mission to ‘Glorify God, through outstanding and enjoyable education’, which itself is underpinned by John 10:10 ‘I have come so they may have life and have it more abundantly’.
We are looking for an effective Leader of Maths who is looking to join a successful and dedicated team. Maths is highly valued at Saint Cecilia’s, as we are a Maths specialist school. In 2023-24, Maths was a consistently high performing department (at GCSE 83% 9-4 Grades and 73% 9-5 Grades) compared to a JCQ national percentage of 71% 9-4 Grades for 16 Year Olds. At A level, 43% of students achieved A*-B Grades and 73% Achieved A*-C Grades.
Saint Cecilia’s is a vibrant school of just over 1100 pupils with a thriving academic Sixth Form. A caring Christian community, together with a close-knit team of dedicated teaching and support staff, have achieved excellent academic success.
Whilst candidates must be in sympathy with the aims of a voluntary-aided Church of England school, a Christian commitment is not essential for this post.
Saint Cecilia’s has a history of academic excellence and in 2024 pupils and students achieved impressive results at GCSE and A Levels.
At GCSE:
· Attainment 8 was 54.68
· 80% of pupils achieved 9-4 grades in both English and Maths

Are you ready to contribute towards a Great Curriculum, establish Great Learning and build a culture of Great Professionalism and Great Partnerships, all in a caring, supportive Christian Ethos?
We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults, and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. All posts are subject to an enhanced DBS check. The school will research all shortlisted candidates on social media platforms and the internet, and the recruitment panel may take this information into consideration during the recruitment process. The online checks will be carried out by Social Media Check, an independent agency.

THE AIMS OF THE SCHOOL
Saint Cecilia’s Church of England School is a co-educational comprehensive school for pupils aged 11–18 years specialising in the teaching of Music and Mathematics.
As a Christian school, we are proud to declare that we exist to ‘Glorify God through outstanding, enjoyable education’.
The school values the uniqueness of each individual as a person made in the image of God, entitled to teaching and learning opportunities which will enable him or her to become a confident, competent, caring and self-reliant person, fully prepared for adult life and the world of work in modern Britain.
In order to fulfil its Mission Statement, the school seeks:
•To develop the whole child.
•To promote the highest standards of academic achievement, motivation and self-discipline in all pupils.
•To ensure high quality teaching and learning in all subjects and at all key stages.
•To encourage each individual child to develop her or his talents to the full.
•To ensure that everyone is treated equally and with respect.
•To develop in pupils an awareness and appreciation of spiritual, moral, social and cultural values and attitudes.
•To help pupils develop creative, lively and critically enquiring minds and the ability to question and discuss rationally.
•To promote an awareness of our place in, dependency on and respect for the world environment.
•To promote the fundamental British values of democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty and mutual respect and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs.
At Saint Cecilia’s we believe that pupils should enjoy and learn from their everyday experiences, both in and out of school, valuing their school days as part of a process of lifelong learning. Fulfilment grows from a sense of personal achievement and pupils are given the opportunity to participate in a wide range of educational and recreational activities, including decision-making. Teaching is organised to enable pupils to work individually as well as in groups, cooperatively and well as competitively. Assessment of pupils’ work accentuates positive achievement as well as provides direction for future improvement.
