Deputy Head (Academic)

Thank you for your interest in the role of Deputy Head (Academic) at Edge Grove. This is a full-time position starting on 1st January 2025.

Edge Grove School is excited to advertise this role, a position which provides a rare opportunity to join a very successful, cohesive and happy leadership team which comprises the Head, Bursar, Deputy Head (Academic), Deputy Head (Pastoral), Assistant Heads Junior, Middle, Co-Curricular, Digital Development and Staff Development and the Director of Marketing and Admissions. The SLT works creatively and collaboratively, consulting and liaising throughout the day and formally meeting at least weekly, strategically guiding whole-school academic, co-curricular and pastoral decision-making, overseeing staff welfare, digital development, marketing and admissions as well as day-to-day School operations. SLT members are flexible in responding to situations outside their individual remit, but there is a clarity of responsibilities and delegation.

The successful candidate will naturally align to Edge Grove’s unique educational Mission and Values and promote child-centred education based on outstanding pastoral care which encourages pupils to develop academic and co-curricular independence in pursuit of life skills which prepare them for future education, employment and a long and happy life. They will demonstrate an impressive record of school leadership at senior or middlemanagement level, strong empathy and emotional intelligence and excellent collaboration and communication and administrative skills. They will promote a passion for diverse, progressive and creative learning pedagogies, including the use of digital technology. The School expects the successful candidate to wish to seek headship at a leading prep school in due course and will support them to fulfil this ambition.
