Job overview

Shrewsbury School in the UK is a leading independent school with a rich history dating back to 1552. The school is renowned for its commitment to academic excellence, genuinely holistic educational provision, and its strong international reputation. Due to open in 2025, Shrewsbury International School India (SISI) will be founded and based on the same values, ethos and philosophy as the 472-year-old UK school. SISI will be a co-educational boarding school for pupils aged 11-18 years.

Applications are invited for the Deputy Head – Co-curricular of Shrewsbury International School India (SISI), the fourth in the Shrewsbury International School family and the first to be opened in India. SISI will benefit from strong partnership and collaboration with Shrewsbury School, as well as other Shrewsbury international schools across Asia. The partnership with Jagran Social Welfare Society (JSWS) will see the development of a 150-acre campus featuring state-of-the-art academic, co-curricular and residential facilities to accommodate all aspects of a full school life.

The Co-curricular programme at Shrewsbury International School, India, is at the core of the school’s approach to delivering a whole person education. The Deputy Head Co-curricular will hold strategic and administrative responsibility for development and delivery of the school’s co-curricular provision, a provision that must be delivered in a manner that strengthens and balances the Salopian Floreat.

An essential component of the school’s approach to the co-curricular is that it provides pupils with experiences that will help them make informed decisions about  their personal development and how they will seek to contribute beyond themselves. The co-curricular programme will be structured to provide each pupil with opportunities to explore where their talents lie, building strengths in those areas, whilst also learning to appreciate and respect the contributions of others whose talents differ from their own. In parallel, the programme must provide each pupil with the life skills they will need to make the most of the opportunities and to effectively navigate the challenges that life casts their way.

The successful candidate may also be considered for the position of Senior Deputy Head, presenting an exciting opportunity for further career development. The individual appointed as the Senior Deputy Head will deputise for the Headmaster, hold additional cross functional leadership responsibilities, and have a pivotal role in shaping the strategic direction and ensuring the overall success of Shrewsbury International School India.

CVs and cover letters should be sent by 09.00 BST on Friday 23rd August, 2024.
