Deputy Head of School

Lauremont School acknowledges that we teach and learn on the traditional territories of the Mississaugas, Huron-Wendat, Haudenosaunee and Anishinabe of the Credit First Nations.

Lauremont School, formerly TMS, invites expressions of interest, nominations, and applications from outstanding educators and leaders for the position of Deputy Head of School. The appointment will begin on July 1st, 2025 or as mutually agreed. This is an outstanding opportunity to work with a supportive Head of School and a collaborative senior team.

Internationally recognized since 1961, Lauremont is a leading independent school offering a unique combination of Montessori and International Baccalaureate Programmes in exceptional facilities on two campuses in Richmond Hill, Ontario. A Montessori approach to learning is expertly delivered at the Lower School from Toddler through Grade 6 before students transition to the Upper School, where the IB curriculum is delivered through both the MYP and DP programs. With approximately 900 students ranging in age from 18 months to 18 years, Lauremont delivers an engaging, highly-acclaimed educational experience focusing on knowing every child uniquely. It encourages every learner to become a compassionate, curious and connected citizen in a complex and changing world. The School desires to inspire and challenge students to discover the best of who they are, to achieve their full potential, and to strive and excel in academics, arts, athletics, and citizenship. As a member of CIS Ontario and accredited by CCMA, CAIS and IBO, Lauremont pursues ongoing improvement in all areas. Additional information about Lauremont and its recent growth and direction is available at www.tmsschool.ca.

Reporting to the Head of School, the Deputy Head of School will collaborate closely with the Head and other members of the school Leadership Team to support and advance the School’s Mission, Vision, and curricular and co-curricular programs. The Deputy Head carries out a critical strategic role within the School and helps to facilitate its smooth daily operations, while also supporting its reputation within the community and beyond. A key desired attribute is to be a conduit between the Head of School/Leadership Team and the School employees and other community stakeholders.

The new Deputy Head of School will be an experienced educational leader with a proven track record of accomplishment and the ability to command the trust and respect of all Lauremont stakeholders. Strong academic credentials, a visionary outlook aligned with the School’s Mission, Vision, and Ideals, exceptional leadership support for an unparalleled team, outstanding communication skills, and creativity in further enhancing an outstanding educational program are all qualities required in the Deputy Head of School. They will have an excellent rapport with students of all ages and backgrounds, combined with experience or an interest in increasing resources and the overall welfare of a school through the general promotion of the School and its capabilities.

The Deputy Head of School will assume the role as the School continues a significant change trajectory across many areas of school life, including programs, facility development, enrolment growth, and a new Strategic Direction. A strong track record of managing and leading change effectively will be a definite asset. As an individual with highly developed inter-personal skills, a sense of humour and significant reserves of patience, the successful candidate will demonstrate a track record of commitment to inclusion and the well-being of faculty, staff, and students. Experience in forming and strengthening curricular, program and cultural connections and links from early childhood to Elementary and Middle/High School is valued as the school seeks to deepen the bonds between the two campuses and pedagogies.

The consultants will begin review of candidates immediately, with committee consideration early in the fall, and will continue until the role is filled. Applications should include a letter of interest, curriculum vitae, and the names of three references (who will not be contacted without the consent of the candidate), and should be submitted in confidence to the School’s executive search consultants:
