The Role:

We are seeking an inspirational Deputy Headteacher to join us in May 2025 to help shape and lead our new ASC/SEMH school. This is more than just a leadership role—it’s an opportunity to craft a learning environment that will empower students with ASC/SEMH needs to achieve their full potential. Working closely with the Headteacher, you’ll have the chance to influence the vision, culture, and day-to-day operations of the school, ensuring that it offers an ambitious, therapeutic, and person-centred curriculum.


As the Deputy Headteacher, you will play a pivotal role in:

  • Leading the development of a state-of-the-art school building, ensuring it becomes a calming and inspiring environment for both students and staff.
  • Recruiting and leading a passionate, dedicated team of educators and support staff to work in collaboration towards achieving the highest educational outcomes.
  • Developing and implementing an innovative curriculum that is tailored to the needs of students with ASC/SEMH challenges.
  • Fostering a culture of inclusivity, respect, and collaboration, where each child is valued and supported to succeed.
  • Leading by example, with the authority to deputise for the Headteacher and contribute strategically to the school's growth.

You’ll also be responsible for key areas such as school governance, developing and implementing policies, and supporting the recruitment of your team, all while ensuring the smooth daily operation of the school.


Skills and Qualifications

What We’re Looking For:

The ideal candidate will:

  • Hold Qualified Teacher Status and have further professional qualifications relevant to the role.
  • Have experience as a senior leader, ideally within an SEMH or ASC setting.
  • Demonstrate a deep understanding of Ofsted frameworksSafeguarding, and independent school regulations.
  • Bring evidence of leading whole-school initiatives and translating policy into impactful practice.
  • Show experience working closely with school governors, trustees, and executives.
  • Be a passionate advocate for students, with a commitment to delivering outstanding outcomes for young people with ASC/SEMH needs.
  • Have the ability to inspire and motivate a diverse team, creating a culture of collaborationcreativity, and high standards.
