The Island Private School of Limassol is seeking a dynamic and experienced individual to lead the school’s academic digital transformation while also teaching Design within the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) and Computer Science within the Diploma Programme (DP). This dual role combines leadership in developing digital skills across the teaching team members with the responsibility of delivering high-quality Computer Science and Design education to students. The ideal candidate will be passionate about both digital innovation in education and empowering students and teachers to thrive in a technology-driven world.

Contract Type: Full-Time  

Teaching periods: 12

Reports to: Head of School 


Key Responsibilities:

Digital Transformation Leadership

  • Strategic Planning: Develop and implement a comprehensive digital transformation strategy to enhance the digital competencies of teachers across all departments.
  • Training & Development: Design and deliver training programs that equip teachers with the necessary digital skills to effectively integrate technology into their teaching practices.
  • Digital Tools & Resources: Evaluate and recommend digital tools, platforms, and resources that will enhance teaching and learning outcomes.
  • Innovation Advocacy: Foster a culture of innovation by promoting the use of digital technologies in teaching and administrative practices, aligning with the school’s mission and objectives.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with academic leaders, IT staff, and external vendors to ensure the successful implementation of digital initiatives.
  • Support: Provide ongoing support and mentorship to staff in the use of technology in classrooms and school operations.
  • Leading the Design Faculty and delivering Computer Science DP course
  • Ensuring that students learn about safety online and become responsible Digital Citizens. Membership of the Safeguarding and Child protection Committee with a remit to keep students safe online. 


Computer Science and Design Teaching (IB MYP/DP)

  • Curriculum Development & Delivery: Develop the curriculum and teach Computer Science and Design in the IB MYP and DP, delivering engaging, inquiry-based lessons that align with the IB philosophy.
  • Student Engagement: Inspire students to develop their technical skills and critical thinking through the exploration of programming, systems design, cybersecurity, and emerging technologies.
  • Assessment & Evaluation: Design and administer assessments that measure students' progress and provide constructive feedback to help them achieve academic excellence.
  • Interdisciplinary Learning: Collaborate with other subject teachers to create interdisciplinary projects that integrate technology and support students' overall learning experience.
  • Extracurricular Activities: Lead or support technology-focused extracurricular activities, such as coding clubs, robotics, or tech competitions.


Qualifications and Experience:

Education: 

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Educational Technology, or a related field. 
  • A teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, QTS, or equivalent) is preferred.


Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in teaching Computer Science at the secondary school level, preferably within the IB MYP/DP framework.
  • Proven track record in leading or managing digital transformation initiatives in an educational setting.
  •  Experience in designing and delivering teacher training on digital tools and technology integration.
  • IB Certification: IB training and certification in MYP/DP Computer Science(or willingness to obtain certification).


Qualifications and Experience (Additional):

  • Experience with Design Technology Equipment: Proficiency in operating and maintaining specialized equipment, such as the C R Clarke 725FLB Vacuum Former, RJH Gerbil 2010 Vacuum Form Cutter, Mercury 30W Laser Cutter, and C R Clarke Model 600D Strip Heater, is highly desirable. This expertise will ensure that these valuable tools continue to be used effectively in supporting design education and providing hands-on learning opportunities for students.
