Role summary:

Due to a relocation of the current coordinator, The International School of Modena is seeking to appoint an experienced Diploma Programme Coordinator to support learning and develop the strong DP team. Applicants must have experience of teaching within the IB and DP, have a strong background in concept and inquiry-based teaching and learning and DP assessment strategies, as well as a firm understanding of the diploma programme.  

The successful applicant will be a dynamic teacher-leader with experience of enabling students and teachers to achieve their potential. We are looking for experience, enthusiasm and a passion for teaching and teacher training, to inspire our students with a love of learning and to lead our teachers in the development of IB pedagogical teaching methodologies. They need to be a team player that can work within a small but busy school, collaborating with teachers to support the development of a rigorous inquiry-based curriculum with strong assessment practices. This is an opportunity to make a significant contribution to the continued development of our school.


Key responsibilities:

  • Supporting a positive and strong school community
  • Leading DP teaching and learning in Grades 12 and 13
  • Coordinating and supporting student preparation for Internal Assessments and examinations
  • Supporting the DP CORE and leading where required
  • Supporting the librarian, EAL and Inclusion Teams in the provision of training for teachers and support for individual student needs
  • Working closely with the PYP and MYP Coordinators and Middle Leadership to ensure a well-planned vertical curriculum that supports academic excellent KG-13
  • Contributing to school development through active participation in staff professional development
  • Offering an Extra Curricular activity that supports or extends the current portfolio of offerings.


The ideal candidate will have:

  • to be in possession of a university degree in a related subject and an appropriate teaching qualification
  • to have had recent experience successfully teaching within the DP or equivalent
  • to be enthusiastic and passionate, showing a love of learning, and having the ability to convey this successfully to students of all abilities
  • Understanding of DP assessment, CAT 4/CEM  testing and data tracking to improve challenge and progress desirable
  • Experience with IB pedagogy/inquiry and concept-based learning is essential
  • A firm understanding of the importance of personalised learning in an inclusive environment
  • Someone who is willing to commit to a longer-term position. We would initially offer a 12-month contract with the view to offer permanent after this time for longevity.

The International School of Modena is a mixed, non-selective, non-denominational independent all-through school  in Italy, serving students from the age of 2-18. The all-through school, situated in Montale Rangone, Modena, has approximately 240 students on record.
