LICS is a leading independent pre-primary, primary, and secondary school based in the leafy suburb of Roma in Lusaka, Zambia. It is also a member of CIS, AISA, and ISAZ
The school currently has an opening and is looking for a suitably qualified individual to join the LICS community as an IGCSE and A Levels Economics Teacher effective 1st August 2025.
1. Requirements:
• Proficiency with the Cambridge IGCSE, and A-Level Economics curriculum and assessment standards.
• At least 3 years of relevant teaching experience.
• Additional qualifications relevant to the role.
• Registration with the Teaching Council of Zambia.
• A dynamic, driven personality with a desire for educational excellence.
• Willingness to be part of a successful team with a strong academic record.
• A sense of humor.
2. Qualifications:
• BEd (QTS)/PGCE or equivalent.
• Excellent subject and/or specialist knowledge.
• Full understanding of connections and progressions in the subject to ensure good student progress.
• Understanding and integration of technology in teaching.
3. Key Responsibilities:
3.1 Planning and Setting Expectations:
• Prepare lessons with clear objectives for successful learning.
• Set high expectations for students in class and homework.
3.2 Teaching and Managing Pupil Learning:
• Teach and manage students effectively while maintaining discipline.
• Ensure engaging and challenging lessons for all ability levels.
• Use effective teaching methods and creativity.
• Provide targeted support for students with special needs or high ability.
3.3 Assessment and Evaluation:
• Use assessment to diagnose needs, set targets, and plan future teaching.
• Utilise data for personalized learning.
3.4 Pupil Achievement:
• Achieve excellent results and outcomes.
• Maintain high student motivation and behavior standards.
3.5 Relations with Parents and Wider Community:
• Maintain positive parent relationships and meet assessment/reporting deadlines.
• Managing Own Performance and Development:
• Stay up-to-date with subject/specialism.
• Improve teaching practices and school targets.
3.6 Managing and Developing Staff and Other Adults:
• Support and advise other teachers.
• Share good practices and provide coaching/training.
3.7 Managing Resources:
• Plan and prioritise time and activities effectively.
3.8 Strategic Leadership:
• Act as a role model and motivate others.
• Support the school's broad aims and senior leadership.
3.9 Safeguarding:
• Ensure student safety and undertake relevant training.
• Actively participate in safeguarding practices.
3.10 Pastoral Care of Students:
• Provide care, empathy, and respect to students.
• Support students’ welfare, friendships, and personal development.
• Apply school policies consistently.
3.11 Role of the Form Tutor (if applicable):
• Conduct daily registration and support academic progress.
• Communicate with parents and monitor student progress.
• Support students’ transitions and write relevant references.

LICS, (Lusaka International Community School), is a dynamic international teaching and learning Pre-K through to A Level School. As a CIE school (Cambridge Assessment International Education), we offer Checkpoint at Year 6 & 9, IGCSE, AS and AL assessments.
LICS is located in the leafy suburb of Roma, Lusaka, and offers a beautiful and secure campus with some of the best facilities in Zambia, including a multi-purpose astro turf, heated swimming pool, theatre, computer suites, science laboratories and bespoke art studio in the secondary school.
In terms of student enrolment, our school offers a caring community atmosphere. We have a beautiful campus, with about 600 learners across the three schools; such is the structure of our facilities and the dynamics of our school.
