Key Responsibilities:
· teaching their main subject across the full range of ability across potentially 3 key stages following departmental schemes of work, the National Curriculum and the relevant subject specifications;
· contributing to the development of departmental schemes of work and assessment;
· setting and marking homework according to school and departmental policies;
· monitoring and assessing students according to departmental and whole school policies;
· actively promoting the school expectations;
· teaching other subjects as required and according to departmental schemes of work;
· contributing to departmental meetings;
· maintaining a safe and attractive learning environment;
· taking on roles of responsibility after discussion with subject co-ordinator;
· a willingness to teach a second subject as required;
· promoting the school's ethos and equal opportunities policy;
· contributing to the further development of whole school policies and practices;
· serving as a tutor with responsibilities for student academic tutoring, behaviour, welfare, guidance and for liaison with parents;
· carrying out appropriate school duties, including general lunchtime duties on a voluntary basis;
· promoting and safeguarding the welfare of students for whom they have responsibility or with whom they come into contact.
Assessment, recording and reporting:
· Keep appropriate records of students’ work;
· Mark and return work set, including homework, within an agreed and reasonable time;
· Use the school’s marking scheme at all times;
· Carry out assessment programmes, as agreed by the school, faculty or department;
· Complete records of achievement in line with school policy;
· Complete student reports in line with school policy. Attend parents’ evenings as required and keep parents informed about their child’s performance and future targets;
· Undertake responsibility for a form group;
· Monitor and set targets for the social and academic progress of all students in the form;
· Endeavour to build up a good relationship with the students in the form, so that they will look to the teacher for support and advice;
· Command high standards of student behaviour and conduct at all times and support the school in its application of related policies;
· Report issues of concern to the appropriate senior staff;
· Attend and contribute to key stage, subject, team and full staff meetings;
· In relation to the school’s strategic plan, contribute towards the goals and targets.

About Overton Grange School
Based in Sutton, Overton Grange School is a secondary school for boys and girls between the ages of 11 and 18. It is a non-denominational establishment. The school currently educates around 1,250 pupils. In June 2011, the school gained academy status. Overton Grange works closely with other schools within the community and is rated "Good" by Ofsted.

“Pupils who receive pupil premium funding, disabled pupils and those with special educational needs are making progress similar to their peers. The curriculum is diverse. A wide range of extracurricular activities allows pupils to explore diversity. This develops their spiritual, moral, social and cultural understanding. Pupils’ attendance is good. They generally behave well and are supportive towards each other. This enables all pupils, including those accessing the hearing impairment resource, to be included well in academy life. Safeguarding is effective. Leaders and governors undertake appropriate and careful checks on staff, and record information well. Staff undertake regular and effective safeguarding training.”
