Achieving Excellence where Every Child Matters

Do you share our vision for every child in our school?

We are recruiting outstanding Early Years and lower school learning assistants. Our assistants are a valued and integral part of the primary school and as such we are looking for proactive, positive, flexible and professional team players. You will need to be able to work equally well with adults and children alike, and be adaptable to change with a problem-solving mindset.

Assistants support children in their learning in a 1:1, small group or class setting. It is vital that you can form positive and supportive relationships with the children and have high expectations of behaviour and outcomes at all times. As an inclusive school, we value all learners, so you will be working with children who require further challenge and those who require additional support.

The successful candidate will be an outstanding, learning focused practitioner, preferably with experience of working with children aged between 2 and 7 years old. Experience of working with children who are working in a second or third language is a distinct advantage. More experienced candidates may be asked to teach classes as appropriate, and as needed. All applicants must have a native level of English language proficiency. There are no formal qualifications required for the position, but if you are looking for an opportunity to work and develop your experience with young children in an amazing part of the world, then this could be the opportunity for you.

Supporting students with learning difficulties or disabilities:

  • To support the learning of  students who have been diagnosed with learning difficulties. This support may be necessary because a student requires support  in accessing the curriculum. Or it may be because they have learning difficulties and need additional support to understand and complete tasks.

  • To support  these students by helping them to keep up to speed with their peers and identifying strategies that enable them to make progress with their learning.

Supporting students with English as a second language:

  • To support students whose first language is not English with some additional support  to enable them to access the curriculum.
  • To liaise with the ESL teacher and class teacher regarding strategies.

Community:

  • To ensure effective dialogue with parents in accordance with school policies.
  • To support with translation during meetings with parents and external agencies where possible.
  • To work closely with staff in other departments of the school.
  • To liaise with external agencies and employers as necessary.

The duties may be varied to meet the changing demands of the school at the reasonable discretion of the Headteacher.

ISP Commitment to Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging

ISP is committed to strengthening our inclusive culture by identifying, hiring, developing, and retaining high-performing teammates regardless of gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation and gender expression, age, disability status, neurodivergence, socio-economic background or other demographic characteristics. Candidates who share our vision and principles and are interested in contributing to the success of ISP through this role are strongly encouraged to apply.
