Job Overview:

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated female Physical and Health Education (PHE) Teacher to join our dynamic educational team. This role encompasses teaching the girls group in the Middle Years Programme (MYP) and potentially some mixed groups in the Primary Years Programme (PYP) within the International Baccalaureate (IB) framework. The successful candidate will inspire students to develop lifelong healthy habits, foster physical fitness, and cultivate an understanding of health and wellness in a supportive and inclusive environment. For a full-time position this role might include other tasks in addition to teaching PHE (lunch, recess and aftercare supervision, substituting for teachers, etc.).


Key Responsibilities:

1. Curriculum Delivery:

  • Design and deliver engaging and comprehensive PHE lessons that align with the IB PYP and MYP frameworks.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive environment that encourages all students to participate in physical activities and understand the importance of a healthy lifestyle.


2. Student Engagement:

  • Encourage students to develop physical skills, sportsmanship, teamwork, and personal health awareness.
  • Provide differentiated instruction to meet the diverse needs and abilities of students, ensuring that every student can succeed.


3. Assessment and Feedback:

  • Develop and implement formative and summative assessments that align with IB standards, providing constructive feedback to support student growth.
  • Track and report on student progress in physical fitness, skill development, and health knowledge.


4. Extracurricular Activities:

  • Organize and lead extracurricular sports and fitness activities, fostering school spirit and encouraging students to pursue physical activities outside of regular class time.
  • Coordinate and support school-wide sports events, competitions, and health initiatives.


5. Collaboration and Professional Development:

  • Collaborate with colleagues across disciplines to integrate health and fitness concepts into broader educational experiences.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current with best practices in PHE education and IB methodology.


Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Physical Education, Health Education, or a related field.
  • Experience teaching Physical and Health Education at the middle school levels.
  • Knowledge of the IB framework and inquiry-based teaching methods.
  • Ability to coach and lead sports teams or physical activity clubs.

  • Strong understanding of physical fitness, health education, and student well-being.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire students.
  • Creativity and adaptability to develop engaging lessons that meet the diverse needs of students.
  • Commitment to the principles and philosophy of the International Baccalaureate, with a focus on holistic development and lifelong learning.
