It supports children in acquiring the knowledge required by the French national education system, as well as in all aspects of learning, to enable them to become responsible, enlightened, autonomous, supportive and fulfilled citizens. The Lab School's pedagogical approach draws on the contributions of pioneers in educational innovation, as well as current scientific research in the field of education.

Lab School Paris is looking for a French-speaking teacher with a good knowledge of English - although it is not necessary to be bilingual - and experience of teaching in a cycle 2 or cycle 3 classroom.


MISSIONS 

Working closely with the management team, your general mission will be to ensure the overall implementation of the Lab School Paris pedagogical project. 

Working with an English-speaking teacher, you will be responsible for a double-level 3rd- 4th grade class of 25 to 30 students. As part of your support role, you will be responsible for ensuring that the children's specific needs are met, in agreement with their families. You will play a key role in developing the class project, as part of the school project.


SPECIFIC TASKS

Build a relationship of trust with pupils; work with them to value their successes and progress on a daily basis.

Design and implement multi-grade teaching aimed at effective acquisition of knowledge and skills, with reference to curricular content and research recommendations, in collaboration with a co-teacher, and in consultation with colleagues from other cycles and management

Support students in carrying out their individual or group projects, and in artistic and sports subjects

Share a convivial moment with children at mealtimes or at recess in the park (one-hour service once a week)

Communicate with parents about children's learning and behavior

Get involved in school life

Willingness to engage in an innovative, lifelong learning approach, in collaboration with researchers

At least one year's experience in classroom teaching (not including internships)

Full-time position (35 hours annualized), including 25 hours of presence with students. As soon as you receive a positive response to your application, you will be required to take part in discussions and working meetings to prepare for the position.


SKILLS AND APTITUDES REQUIRED

Experience teaching in Cycle 2 or Cycle 3 classrooms

Sensitivity to active pedagogies (Freinet, Montessori, Dewey...) would be appreciated

Taste for listening and non-violent communication

Taste for teamwork: weekly team meetings and pedagogical consultations (one evening after school and one lunch break), one seminar per period (1 Wednesday afternoon), 2 review days at the end of the school year and 2 pre-entry days before the start of the new school year, occasional participation in the drafting of collaborative documents to document practices, possibly as part of collaborative projects with researchers.

Creativity, responsiveness, initiative and resourcefulness, openness, flexibility and team spirit

Interest in research in education sciences, psychology, cognitive sciences, etc.
