Hours: Full time 37.5 Hours per week, Term Time (plus 2 weeks, totalling 37 weeks per year).

Salary: £22,308

Contract: Fixed Term, August 2024 - June 2025.

 

Holiday

You are entitled to of 5.6 weeks per annum, and any public holidays that occur during term time. Your holiday will have been deemed to be taken outside of term time and incorporated into your pay.

 

Overview

We are seeking a Graduate Assistant who is looking for a career with young people maybe within the school environment or within our marketing department, who wants to gain experience. This role will allow you to develop key skills and gain valuable work experience.

 

This role would suit a keen graduate who wishes to immerse themselves into a vibrant and professional environment within a College setting.

 

Main duties and Key Responsibilities:

·      To provide the environment in which students flourish, feel secure and fully engage with the school ethos.

·      To assist the Principal with marketing initiatives, some administrative tasks.

·      To assist the Head of Boarding with the organisation and resources of Boarding Houses.

·      To work closely with other boarding staff in that area of responsibility who maintain direct accountability for students in their own houses; to provide for the safety, good discipline and physical, academic, moral and pastoral wellbeing of all students in the Houses.

Qualifications and Experience

You will demonstrate the ability to build excellent relationships with young people, by being supportive and caring. You will have the ability to remain calm under pressure and a flexible approach to duties. Hold A Levels or equivalent qualifications or experience, be competent in the use of a PC, particularly the use of Microsoft Word and Outlook, and have a working knowledge of record keeping and data protection. You will have excellent verbal and written English, good communication and organisational skills and have a working understanding of child protection. Higher level qualifications and previous experience working with children or in a care setting is desirable.

Checks and Training

• Enhanced DBS checks to ascertain successful candidates suitability to work with children will be carried out. This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974, and therefore all convictions, cautions and bindovers, including those regarded as ‘spent’ must be declared.

• Online searches will be carried out on candidates for any unsuitable content by or about candidates.

• Two written & verbal references from previous employers and a personal reference will be sought. Referees will be asked about candidates suitability to work with children and whether they know of any disciplinary offences relating to children or young persons and whether candidates have been the subject of any child protection allegations or concerns and if so the outcome of any enquiry or disciplinary procedure.

• Candidates full employment history will be checked, any significant gaps will require explanation and proof of any relevant qualifications will need to be provided.

• Successful candidates will be required to complete Child Protection Training via e-learning prior to commencing employment.

• Pre-employment health screening will also be carried out.
