Job overview

South Hampstead High School, the Independent Girls’ School of the Year 2022, is looking for a committed and energetic Head of Art to lead a lively Art department.

The successful candidate will teach Art from Year 7 to 13 to highly motivated, independent and inquisitive students. They will play a pivotal role in the management of the department, promoting excellence in teaching and learning, and contributing to whole school policy making and strategic planning.

The Head of Art will also be expected to build on the current program of exhibitions in the school exhibition spaces and take a proactive stance in promoting the public face of the subject.

Knowledge of contemporary art practice is essential, in addition to excellent leadership skills, experience of teaching up to A Level, and management experience.
