We are a welcoming and supportive academy, with a relentless determination to provide the very best education for every child. We place students at the centre of everything we do, with a focus on creating a culture of success and a positive climate for learning.

We believe that learning should be both enjoyable and enriching. With a holistic view of education, we aim to create a safe and secure learning community that encourages healthy and sustainable lifestyles and empowers students to pursue career pathways they will find stimulating and deeply rewarding.

As we continue to improve and progress, help to take us to the next level.

We work hard to ensure we reduce workload on staff, allowing more time in the classroom to put our vision of students first, raising standards and transforming lives into practice.

All academies within the Outwood Family have gained the IQM Inclusive Schools Award with 18 having Centre of Excellence status and one holding Flagship status.

Collaborating closely with the Senior Leadership Team, you'll champion our core belief: putting ‘Students First’, Raising Standards and Transforming Lives. Your leadership will be the driving force behind an inspired, motivated team, ensuring an engaging curriculum and raising student attainment levels.

The department has a strong curriculum that is well-planned and ready to deliver, with the flexibility to allow for the successful candidate to contribute their own creative ideas and style of pedagogy. The department engages in a range of extra curricular activities.

The school's thriving Arts Department has an excellent reputation for delivering a progressively challenging, stimulating and fun art education throughout the school. As the Head of the Arts Department you will contribute to the strategic direction and development of the department, preparing a plan that will ensure the department continues to be innovative, creative, successful and ambitious, inspiring a love of the subjects in their students.

You will also lead and manage department staff, promoting excellence in teaching and learning that will help students to develop their potential within Arts. This role will be key to ensuring that they deliver a high quality academic and creative experience to all students within a safe, well-supported, well-resourced and well-looked after environment.

We believe that the students of Outwood Academy Kirkby both deserve and need exceptional staff role models. We are looking for staff who care, who inspire, and who believe in our students' potential.
