Head of Business & ICT

Rodillian Academy, Longthorpe Lane, Lofthouse, Wakefield, WF3 3PS

Salary: MPS/UPS (plus TLR 2b £5,349 per annum)

Hours: Full Time

Contract: Permanent

Start Date: January 2025

Rodillian Academy seeks to appoint an inspiring and ambitious Head of Business and ICT to join our effective and dedicated team. The successful candidate will have an outstanding teaching ability, the skills to motivate and engage students, and a relentless ambition to enrich the lives and learning experiences of our young people.

As Head of Business & ICT you will:

·        Lead the skilled and dedicated Business and ICT team, offering guidance, support and examples of inspirational practice to colleagues.

·        Raise standards of student engagement, attainment and achievement in Business and ICT

·         Effectively evaluate the Business and ICT curriculum and strategically plan for its future development in-line with the Trust’s vision.

At the Rodillian Multi Academy Trust we are committed to doing things differently – creating schools that students want to attend, and where teachers want to work. We raise aspiration levels for staff, students and schools by encouraging creativity in the classroom, and by giving our staff freedom to experiment with their teaching, as part of our pioneering curriculum. All of this is guided by our Positive Discipline policy – a traditional approach to behaviour management.

The successful candidate will enjoy access to high quality CPD. You will also be joining a happy Trust where 95% of colleagues agreed that they enjoy working here and 92% would recommend us to a friend or colleague (taken from 2022 staff wellbeing survey). Our commitment to the staff wellbeing means we prioritise staff mental health, drive down unnecessary workload and support our colleagues to progress in their careers.

This role provides a real opportunity for you to make your mark, and as a growing Trust with an excellent reputation and access to high-quality CPD for all, there are always opportunities for career development.

Prospective candidates are welcome to visit the Academy. Please contact Rebecca Farthing, PA to the Principal on rfarthing@rodillianacademy.co.uk to arrange.

The Rodillian Multi Academy Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and we expect all staff, volunteers, visitors and contractors to share this commitment. Shortlisted applicants will undergo relevant checks in line with statutory guidance and all appointees will be required to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure check by the Disclosure and Barring Service.

The Rodillian Academy is housed in a £30 million building. It has large, light and well-resourced spaces, over 1,000 computers, interactive Smartboards in every classroom, a dance studio, a recording studio two gyms and Astro turf pitches.

The Academy has been rated as 'Good' by Ofsted since 2012, with its most recent inspection in 2019, alongside leadership and behaviour being rated as 'Outstanding'.

Behaviour in the Academy is exceptional, and something which we are very proud of.

Our highly successful Sixth Form provision sits within the top 25% nationally too.

Our 2019 inspection saw Ofsted note that “Leaders ensure that pupils learn in a calm and supportive environment. Teachers do not accept disruptions to learning. Pupils behave well, and know who to go to if they need help. Leaders take bullying seriously, and pupils agree. Staff create an orderly environment based on clear routines. Staff encourage pupils to share their views in class, and relationships between pupils and staff are positive and respectful”.

At Rodillian we believe that traditional values of discipline and respect are sacrosanct. We do not tolerate bullying, defiance or rudeness, and this has made for a harmonious and safe learning environment for our young people.

We are proud of the supportive environment we provide for staff, where they can concentrate their efforts on teaching, and their own continuing professional development.

Our school is also committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Rodillian is a happy Academy where students and staff show respect, consideration, and kindness.
