Head of English

Brighton College Bangkok Vibhavadi is seeking an inspirational Head of the English Department (Senior School) to start in August 2025. The successful candidate will lead on all aspects of the curriculum for English Language and Literature at Key Stages 3, 4 and 5, as Brighton College Bangkok Vibhavadi seeks to become one of the region’s leading all-through schools (from Pre-Nursery to Year13).

This is an exciting opportunity for an educationalist to contribute to the development of a secondary curriculum that will provide the platform needed for pupils to go on to some of the world’s leading universities. The successful candidate will be instrumental in ensuring that the educational provision aligns with the Brighton College commitment to building a world-class academic institution, distinctive in its own right, but with the Brighton College DNA at its heart. They will be able to demonstrate the passion, expertise and ambition to take ownership of all aspects of the pupil experience of English teaching at secondary level.

Brighton College Bangkok Vibhavadi will be the second Brighton College school in Bangkok. The first Brighton College Bangkok, which opened in Krungthep Kreetha in 2016, was named ‘International School of the Year’ at the prestigious International School of the Year Awards in October 2024. In August 2025, Brighton College Bangkok Vibhavadi will open in brand new, state-of-the-art facilities. At this point, the community of more than 450 pupils in Pre-Nursery to Year 13 at St. Stephen’s International School will move into the new facilities, and the school will be renamed Brighton College Bangkok Vibhavadi. St Stephen’s and Brighton College are already closely aligned in values, with the former’s focus on an ‘East meets West’ international mindedness and development of respectful leaders, resonating closely with the Brighton values of kindness and social responsibility.

The candidate appointed to this role will report to the Head of Senior School. They will be responsible for the pedagogical leadership of the curriculum, and for ensuring that teaching excellence is embedded throughout all Key Stages. Therefore, they must be able to demonstrate a strong track record of delivering top academic results at IGCSE and A-level in previous roles.

This position represents a career-defining, professional challenge for either a current or aspiring Head of Department, who is excited by the opportunity of growing a department and developing an innovative and intellectually stimulating English curriculum. The Head of the English Department should also be enthused by the opportunities for both teacher and pupil collaboration between the Brighton sister schools.
