About the Position
- Lead the Department by creating a clear vision
- Overview of all curricular activities and actively involved in all creative programmes
- Keep abreast of key developments in their subject area and contribute to the co-curricular life of the school
- Lead and coordinate activities and other opportunities outside the classroom to enhance the educational experience of the pupils
- Creating long term strategic plans to maintain success through Local and National competitions
- Develops and implements effective systems for curriculum planning enabling the needs of learners to be met and targets to be achieved
- Manage the development and production of an appropriate curriculum, which meets the needs of pupils and the Prebendal community and ensures that the pupils experience a wide variety of teaching methodologies
- Ensure that systems are in place to monitor, evaluate and improve the continuing professional development of individual and working groups
- Negotiate and agrees target and appropriate support for teams and individuals
- Agrees success criteria for ongoing monitoring and evaluation and provides constructive feedback to individual pupils on their performance
- Reviews, develops and maintains structures which support a consultative approach to decision making
- Encourages discussion of and gains agreement for school values, aims, policies and plans
- Identifies resources needed to support the implementation of school policies
- Create a clean and attractive environment which is conducive to effective learning and teaching
We are looking for someone who has:
- Experience of leading subject area and initiatives
- Relevant Degree Level Educated
- An innovative, imaginative approach to teaching and learning
- Proven ability to relate well to and communicate effectively with pupils, staff and parents
- A collegiate working style with the ability both to lead the Department and to work as part of a team.
- An understanding and commitment to Prebendal aims and values
- The ability to draft, proof-read and edit school correspondence.
- An eye for detail and an ability to ensure that work is undertaken with accuracy.
- Proactive with an ability to work both independently and as part of a team and to stay calm and positive under pressure in a busy office environment.
- A professional outlook, handling confidential information with discretion and tact.
