Norlington School and 6th Form is a small 11-16 boys’ school with a mixed 6th Form. Over the past 10 years the school has transformed itself into one of the highest performing schools in the country and has been recognised by the Minister for State Schools on three separate occasions for student achievement. Over the past 4 years the school has grown in size to 162 students per cohort and remains oversubscribed.

Norlington was judged to be a 'good school' by Ofsted in November 2023;

The school has an excellent CPD programme and is committed to developing all staff, as we continue to provide all our students with outstanding learning experiences. This includes three staff training afternoons, two department meetings and one twilight training session every 6 weeks. Lessons finish for students at 1:40 pm on a Friday. 

Head of Year 12

This is a significant developmental opportunity for a member of staff ready to make the next step in their careers.

·        The post is open to all staff who teach A-Level.

·        The role will include the leadership of Year 12, as well as supporting the Head of 6th Form in delivering an outstanding post-16 offer, including student recruitment.

·        The role will also include:

·        Leading the KS5 Transition Programme

·        Overseeing the Y12 Tutor programme and PSHE curriculum

·        Working with the rest of the 6th Form team to ensure students are preparing for UCAS/Apprenticeship applications

·        Based upon the successful candidate’s prior experience and current role, further linked responsibilities may also be agreed.

·        Part of the selection process will be exploring how the candidate has impacted on student outcomes and their experiences at Key Stage 5, beyond their classroom.

·        The successful candidate must be available to come into school on GCSE results day for the 6th Form enrolment.

·        Your current knowledge and experience supporting your application for the position of Head of Year (6th Form).

What you believe to be the characteristics of a successful 6th Form student, and what approach would be to support development of these qualities in students at Key Stage 5.
