Edgar Wood Academy is seeking a dedicated and hardworking Head of Year to lead the pastoral support, behaviour, and attendance for a Year Group. This role is crucial in fostering a positive and supportive environment for students, ensuring their welfare and development.

About the Role

As the Head of Year, you will be the main point of contact for your Year Group, coordinating pastoral care, managing behaviour and attendance, and promoting the school’s Positive Discipline ethos. You will work closely with students, parents, staff, and external agencies to support students' academic and personal growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leading and coordinating pastoral support for a Year Group.
  • Promoting positive behaviour and administering sanctions as per the school’s Positive Discipline ethos.
  • Monitoring attendance and punctuality, addressing issues promptly.
  • Maintaining accurate student records and engaging with parents/carers.
  • Fostering a supportive and controlled environment for students.
  • Addressing bullying and supporting victims.
  • Liaising with external agencies for student support.
  • Assisting with student admissions and monitoring their integration.
  • Organising and leading Reward Assemblies and Year Team Meetings.
  • Supporting the supervision and organisation of staff duties.
  • Assisting with Parents’ Evenings and extracurricular activities.
  • Maintaining and updating intervention records using Arbor, CPOMS, and Behaviour Watch.
