Whittingham Primary Academy is part of the East London Cluster of schools under United Learning trust. The school therefore benefits from a wealth of support and resources to enable staff development. The school is passionate and driven to maximise pupil outcomes. The vacancy represents an exciting opportunity to join an ambitious organisation that works within the nationally renowned United Learning Trust. We would welcome applications from candidates who are eager to play an important role in the future of our school.

The Role

We’re excited to offer an opportunity to join our team. We are seeking to appoint a part-time Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) on a fixed-term contract from January to August 2025.

Your role will be to support pupils, teachers, and the school in raising achievement standards for all students. You will use advanced knowledge and skills to assist with planning, monitoring, assessing, and managing classes, encouraging pupils to become independent learners, supporting their well-being, and promoting inclusion in all aspects of school life.

The successful candidate will work closely with the class teacher, phase Lead and SENCO, and should have good literacy, numeracy skills and a professional approach to provide support to our teachers and students in the classroom, covering a variety of learning activities. Candidates must also be able to use their own initiatives and have a good standard of spoken and written English. They must have proven experience in a school setting working with primary age group children.

You will also provide support to the wider school and as an integral member of the Learning & Teaching team. You will be part of the planning and development meetings each week and required to provide class cover when needed. The ideal candidate will relish the challenge of working in a fast paced environment. They will be highly committed and unwavering in their desire to make a real difference to the lives of young people.

Further information about our school can be found on our website.

Whittingham Primary Academy is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. We expect all staff to share this commitment. An enhanced DBS check is required for all successful applicants and shortlisted candidates will be subject to an online check for safer recruitment purposes.

United Learning

Whittingham Primary Academy joined United Learning lately, a large, and growing, group of schools aiming to offer a life changing education to children and young people across England.

Our schools work as a team and achieve more by sharing than any single school could. Our subject specialists, our Group-wide intranet, our own curriculum and our online learning portal all help us share knowledge and resource, helping to simplify work processes and manage workloads for an improved work-life balance.

As a Group, we can reward our staff better: with good career opportunities, better pay, benefits, and ultimately, the satisfaction of helping children to succeed. We invest in our staff well being. Our academies each have at least eight INSET days per year (with three of those solely dedicated to planning), and an ongoing group-wide well being programme. It's an ethos we call ‘the best in everyone’.
