The Leathersellers’ Federation of Schools wish to appoint an HR & Payroll Apprentice to join our central HR Team.

This is an exciting opportunity to start your career in HR, gain a recognised level 3 qualification in HR, CIPD accreditation and develop skills and knowledge of HR policies and procedures. You will gain insight into how HR services are managed across our schools, whilst working as part of a friendly and supportive team. You will also provide support to the Payroll & HR Systems Manager.

As this is an entry level position previous HR or administrative experience is not required. We are looking to appoint someone with people skills, who strives to go over and above to help people. You will be keen to learn and develop a new range of skills, 20% of your working time will be dedicated to pursuing your Level 3 qualification.

Created in 2008, the Federation educates over 3000 students in Lewisham and comprises Prendergast School, Prendergast Vale School and Prendergast Ladywell School. The Federation enjoys a close relationship with The Leathersellers’ Company which dates back to the 15th Century.

The role is based in Prendergast School although there will be a requirement to visit our other schools. You will work 35 hours a week throughout the year and be employed on a fixed term contract for 18 months. 

About you:

  • GCSE English and Maths Level 4 or equivalent
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to use initiative and prioritise workload
  • Collaborative, team orientated with a positive and open approach
  • Confidence to communicate effectively with people at all levels, both internally and externally
  • Experience of using a range of software packages including MSWord, Excel, email and internet
  • Demonstrates an interest in HR
  • The right to work in the UK.
