IB English Teacher (August 2025 Start)

The Hamilton International School (THIS) is one of Doha’s premier schools and opened in 2019, with the Secondary School opening in 2020. Due to significant growth in the Secondary School, we offer a unique opportunity for an IB English teacher to join our team in August 2025. The Secondary School offers a high quality, bespoke, International Curriculum in Grades 6, 7 and 8. In Grades 9 and 10, our students begin the High School Diploma and in Grades 11 and 12 our students can opt for the full IB Diploma or IB Courses along with the High School Diploma.

Within English, we follow the Common Core Standards in Grades 9 and 10, and offer IB DP Language and Literature, and IB DP English B. In addition, we offer electives in Journalism, Creative Writing, and Research Skills and Extended Writing. The English Department will consist of 5 full time members of staff from August 2025.

About the role 

We are looking to appoint an English teacher to join our amazing team who:

• Has experience in teaching English from Grades 6 to 8 (Years 7 – 9)
• Has experience teaching English at High School Diploma, IB Diploma Level, A Level equivalent level (experience of teaching IB DP Language and Literature) would be advantageous)
• Is passionate about teaching and learning with a commitment to continuous improvement  
• Will be committed to the vision of igniting passion, purpose and potential in our students  
• Can contribute to the development of the English Department offering creative opportunities to enrich the learning experience of students at THIS  
• Has experience of planning and curriculum development
• Adapts the curriculum to fit student needs while maintaining overall class progress  
• Assesses and records student development, while identifying problem areas and areas which need attention and improvement  
• Has excellent communication skills with students, colleagues, parents, and school leaders   
• Maintains high levels of behaviour among students, while promoting safety and compliance with school rules and guidelines 
• Is passionate about learning beyond the curriculum, with experience of leading field trips

Criminal Background Checks 

All successful applicants will be subject to satisfactory Criminal Background Checks covering the 10 years prior to their start date with the school; this will cover all countries of residence during that period.
