IT Support Services

We are a small team of three, working to support staff, students, and visitors to our academies. We currently provide support services to The Skinners’ Kent Academy, Skinners’ Kent Primary School, and we will soon be taking on responsibility for Temple Grove Academy. We have close connections with the other schools in our Trust. We provide all IT services to these academies, including helpdesk support, network design, software installation, licencing management, server management, device management and auditing. We support 1:1 distribution of iPads and laptops to students and staff, as well as supporting and maintaining shared IT resources in our academies. We regularly help set up and support events that use technology, such as live streams, shows, and assemblies. We aim to be a friendly, approachable team, who are happy to help with any problem.

IT Apprentice

Salary: £18,000

Working pattern: Full Time, 37 hours per week, Hrs 9.15am 4.15pm including a 36 min lunch

Location: Based at Skinners’ Kent Academy

Responsible to: Head of IT Services

Job Purpose: To support IT services across the Partnership Academies for the benefit of teaching, learning, administration and management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To act as first line support on the IT Helpdesk
  • To provide direct support at the IT office support window
  • To regularly check and maintain IT rooms and equipment
  • To provide technical setup and support for events (this may involve working additional hours on some occasions)
  • To provide technical setup and support for assemblies, live streams, etc
  • To assist with updating and maintaining the electronic displays
  • To provide setup and support for exams when IT is used
  • To maintain and update the IT Asset Register
  • To support the 1 1 laptop scheme by helping users, making minor repairs, assisting with insurance claims and replacements etc
  • To assist with extracting CCTV footage when requested by SLT
  • Assisting with the setup of new IT equipment (e g new desktop suites and staff laptops)
  • You will sometimes move between sites and provide support on location

Additional duties

The Skinners’ Kent Academy is a co-educational, non-denominational secondary school for children aged 11-18 with around 1,100 students currently on its role. Located in Tunbridge Wells, the Academy is a non-selective school in a local authority that operates a selective system.
